Champ Bailey has ZERO Superbowl rings. Why? Because despite being one of the best CBs to play the game he can't take over a game by himself. A pass rusher can eviscerate an offensive game plan, a quarterback can control the clock and take over the game, those guys deserve 16mil per year, not a guy playing a position that can simply be thrown around.

Did Revis say he was going to test the market next season?

Was it a sure thing he was leaving? I also feel cheated by this trade.

There's nothing that stops the Bucs from making Darrelle Revis a UFA before the 3rd day of the new league year in 2014 at all.

Well, other than that they've just put Darrelle Revis on the open market.

This whole building a TEAM thing hurts so much. To make myself feel better, I'm going to go count all the rings the Jets got while Revis was here.

That was the Tannebaum motto and he tasted the bullet........Idzik has a Moneyball approach of spending less but getting overachieving talent.

More like: Sign cheap players and ship out expensive players for picks, which is what a rebuilding team should do.

Curtis had more good years b/c he played longer here but Revis played at a higher level in his shorter time here.

Again, I like Idzik. I'm not trying to run him out of town, he will be given a chance by me as everyone is. I am the last person to jump ship on anyone, I believe in giving players/coaches/execs a chance but he I don't like his first big move.

This could easily be true. Us, Jet fans, or, really, football fans, may never see a corner like Revis again. Older fans said the exact same thing about Deion, as well. It's impossible to predict what's going to happen -- the talent pool is always improving, and, just maybe, the Jets find a gem like they did with Revis.

Unfortunately, this is going to happen no matter what. Just like how the 4th rounder for Herm turned into Leon Washington, there's going to be a stigma with the 13th unless we trade it. Fortunately, it looks like Idzik is going to make the deal.

I'm guessing Holmes and Sanchez will be gone next year. We will have a TON of money next offseason if I'm reading the cap right. This is also very helpful to us rebuilding wise.

The second Revis wanted 16 million, this trade was a must. I don't see how that can be argued. He was a goner anyways. If Revis signed for 8-10 million, then this would have been terrible. But 16 million, you don't pay a corner that when you are missing a QB, RB, OLB, S, and question marks at WR. Too many positions to fill to send that much cap room at Revis

    This trade is a joke.

Alex smith was traded for a 2nd. All you can net for revis is a 1st? As Cimini pointed out Jets would have gotten a compensatory 3rd anyway plus a full year of his services as shutdown corner this season.

    Idzik got worked.

No way in hell the #13 overall pick is worth the best CB in football in his prime.

That was Tanny that did the first part.

Idzik's slogan seems to be, cut the old/overpaid players, ship off the injured/expensive ones.

don't insult Revis by comparing him to Champ Bailey, Champ Bailey isn't half the player Revis is. We can use a million examples, Deion won 2 SBs, Darrel Green won multiple so does that mean shutdown corners can win? Dan marino never won, does that mean elite QBs can't win? It's silly, even the best players at their position need help to win. We almost made 2 SBs, his teammates failed him on D in those title games.

QBs ARE WORTH more than any other position.........why do you think the Skins traded the world in a trade up for then unproven RG3?

Alex Smith is a QB, while Revis is a CB.

One position is extremely valuable while the other one isn't. On top of that, Revis is coming off an ACL injury, and only one team was willing to trade.

Jets did well considering they really had no leverage.

He wouldn't have taken less than $14 mil and he doesn't deserve that either.
