I saw a report on rotoworld a few mins ago that said even with the 2 picks, Idzik would want to trade down further.
Can the random Bills fan who clearly has no Bills forum to post on stop wittering on about his shitty Canadia Lite Franchise and go and find the one bar in Buffalo with electricity
I don't believe the Bills will take Austin, they have Spiller. I don't believe the Jets will use a first rounder on a QB, they have 5. Build around, put as many + players on the field around the QB. When he inevitably sucks anyway, look to the '14 offseason. Also, we have not seen Idzik draft for the Jets but we know he was part of the decision for Russell Wilson who was 3rd round. Don't rule out a later QB prospect because I'm sure Idzik isn't in love with the "competition" he has there now.
I'm not a Jarvis Jones guy, but I would think he'd be there. Everyone keeps saying the Jets love Mingo.
Then what was the point of your post? You pointed out who the Bills have that is better than what the Jets have at certain positions. That doesn't make any of them "good". Truth is, Spiller and MAYBE Johnson are the only two that would play important roles on contending teams.
let's say for the sake of discussion. we trade the 9 to STL or Minn for both of their firsts. Trade 9 to STL: 13. Jonathan Cooper 16. Kenny Vacarro 22. Eifert, Ertz or Hopkins Trade 9 to Minn: 13. Jonathan Cooper 23. Tank Carradine 25. Eifert/Ertz, Hopkins, Sylvester Williams or trade down to 30 with ATL would both be ideal for me.
No we don't. With a good pass rusher and a safety there won't be enough time for play to develop for a long pass.
The Jets had teams that were in the hunt for a SB in 08, 09 and 10. Didn't get over the hump and the team started to decline. Very typical and the reality is the team is rebuilding. The cap was managed very well under Tanny and he essentially lost his job over drafting Sanchez and extending his deal when it was clear the team needed to start the rebuild after 2010. I had no problem keeping Revis or trading him. If we get a cornerstone player and a couple of guys who become starters it will be a very solid move toward our rebuild. If we get a bust and a couple of JAGS, Idzik will be gone in a couple of years. Teams that get into the mix tend to spend to get over the hump. The Jets did exactly that and now they are rebuilding. Had one of those 3 teams got to a SB the cap issues would have been well worth it. You also can't ignore the change in the rookie salary cap which has devalued guys going into their second and third contracts and put more emphasis on drafted players who are much more valuable since they come cheap.
Id be so disappointed if we traded up to get EJ Manuel. The only player I'd want in that scenario would be Nassib.
The Bills need a 2nd WR next to Johnson and Nix has been known to make these plays....Marrone also got a first hand view of what Austin brings so I can totally see them taking Austin at 8 OR try and swing a deal to get a team up at 8 to get more picks.
I think we will already have a trade in the works for our 9 ...Idzik seems like a guy with a clear and focussed approach to the draft , I can see us coming out of this with 10-12 draft picks
speaking of the Bills, I don't think they'll take Austin either. this receiver class is really deep. they could go Geno at 8, then possibly take Keenan Allen in the second. or even Stedman Bailey in the 3rd, who is a guy who has played with Geno for most of his life.
you dont use a top 10 pick on a guard when you have numerous holes to fill...you either take an impact player like a de/olb/wr etc or trade down...a guard should be found by your scouting team in 2 or 3 who plays and starts at an above standard level for 6 years plus.
