Rich Cimini #Jets have expressed interest in former Bears TE Kellen Davis, as reported by @seankjensen. Decent in red zone: 7 TDs last 2 yrs. Manish Mehta Jets are in the market for affordable tight ends. #NYJ is interested in former Bears TE Kellen Davis, as @seankjensen reported. #nyj Thoughts? I would love to go after one in the draft
As with the rest of the low cost signings, if we land Davis it would not preclude us from drafting a TE. I love Escobar, who while a piss poor blocker, would be a great weapon in the seam and the red zone. His hands are fantastic. If he lasts to our third I would be very happy.
What about trading down for a mid to late first and an early second and getting two of either Eifert, Vaccaro, Austin or Carradine with whoever is there for those two picks?
Kelce is a well rounded TE but less of an offensive threat. I would not hate drafting him, but so not see him becoming a dynamic difference maker.
The signing wouldn't hurt I guess but I'd rather see them spend on Butler and then a safety. The Jets can find a decent starting TE in the draft starting in the 4th round.....the earlier rounds have higher needs.
What does everyone think of Levine Toilolo.....I think he cud b a steal in the 6-7 round.....gery good blocker and uses body well to shield off coverage....not a burner but has decent speed
He's really not any good, average blocker and not a real receiving threat. We could do better finding someone in the draft.
I'd rather take a shot at kellen Winslow who's knees are reportedly healthy, and draft someone...if Winslow doesn't look healthy in preseason cut him then hit the wire if needed or give the spot to Hayden Smith.
That sounds like a better idea to me assuming he's healthy, whoever we have at QB is going to need a target at TE who can catch the ball and im not sold on Cumberland yet.
Lets hope they bring someone else in. Cumberland is incredibly inconsistent, and he's a horrible blocker. Bring someone in to compete to be starter, and draft a TE.
