Frankly the reporting for this shit rag has always been bad but lately the witch hunt and constant sniping is beyond what is reasonable ...ok the franchise is in rebuild everyone knows this. Is their another media outlet that reports on a local team in such a childish , deliberately disruptive manner
I have to say, the Jets reporting over the last twelve months has been terrible across all formats. The beat reporters seem to be thriving on (their) opinion and not actual facts.
So far Idzik has run a tight ship, I haven't heard any leaks, and Rex hasn't been his usual loud and boisterous self, at least for now. My hope is this continues and Cimini and Mehta's shticks will begin to ring hollow. Its gonna take a while though, this franchise needs a facelift.
The problem is, they will never be happy. They are like a lot of posters on this board. Granted, I know it has been a long stretch of nothing from this franchise, but come on. Everyone knows we are completely rebuilding this team right now. We are headed in the only direction, which happens to be up, in our situation. I love reading what they are saying though. Saying we are dismantling the team and that there is no chance in hell we will be anything next year. For one, I think they are completely wrong. With a solid draft, we could be contenders next year. All dependent on the QB position. This is the first time in a long time we have an OC who has a proven track record. Our defense has only gotten younger and faster. All the missing pieces are being filled. Second, even if we do tank, that's what happens to franchise's that are rebuilding. What else is expected? LOL These writers always want us to win, but when we make the moves to create a winning franchise, they frown on them. Classic POS journalism. I've learned to tune them all out.
The noise level in the NY media has been really high and fairly hostile since the Sanchez stories broke last winter. It has looked like an organized campaign to destabilize the Jets at times. I'm not saying the Jets haven't over-extended in some ways and opened themselves up to that kind of assault but you have to think that things are out of control in certain quarters right now. It's a big media market and people need to find a way to dfferentiate themselves in order to profit. I think that has a lot to do with the hostility from some of the writers.
What they should only post "positive" pieces? The team has been a mess the last 2 years so of course the opinion pieces and articles will reflect that. I bet if we have a Seahawks circa 2012 turn around the "negative" articles would cease.
Eventually some reporter is going to go against the grain by praising the Jets. You don't make news following the heard and the heard has definitely been hyper critical. The first one breaking ranks will be noticed and then the rest of the geese will follow. That's the nature of the beast.
That's not what the OP means, he means the sarcasm and the cheap shots that those idiots take. For example: Rich Cimini @RichCimini Why are Jets fans panicking? They re-signed Lex Hilliard today This is just one tweet I pulled from CImini's feed that I could remember off the top of my head but this is the kind of amazing insight you can get from these guys
The NY Media could always simply ignore the Jets completely. Who was it that said "We're in the media business"? Oh yeah, the owner said that. So, when the media isn't kissing the Jets collective asses, they have an agenda and the beat reporters all hate the Jets. Here's a solution: The Jets should have their own media outlet just like SNY or the YES channel. That way, they could only hire homers to do the reporting and the announcing too. Of course, that's the only way you'd ever get "honest" reporting. Maybe Woody should look into this. Its got to cost less to have your own media outlet than to resign Revis. Anyone here old enough to remember Pravda?
I seen 2 articles on the slide show on the front of NFL.com.... 1.) Dolphins win offseason -explaining they made great moves and could be a serious contender NOTHING NEGITIVE 2.) Low expactions for jets - Nothing positive... nothing i know we have been a wreck BUT it goes on to spread the sarcasm of Who we signed like we have the cap to sign Reed,Jennings and Woodson on the same day. Point blank they are mad we have shut up and played the interviews well they have to dig out of the creases to write bad about us... it's truly sad and don't portray it wrong... this IS the only team that gets done like this. Most ESPN writers do it to all I have Seen is taunting on kellers move.
Yep, basically the Jets media wants to paint the picture of pure chaos and incompetence in the Jets organization. And honestly the Jets have done nothing but aid the media's objective. Hopefully Woody has learned that the media isn't his friend and he needs to take cues from the more successful organization like New England, Pittsburgh, NYG, etc and pull in the reins
Perhaps this is the price you pay when after hyping yourself for so long and talking so much shit over the last 3 years. The Jets brought all of this on themselves and really can't blame the media for all the negative attention they're getting now. The Jets entire PR department should be fired. Can you imagine if Rex was still his old Foghorn Leghorn self and promising SB's? Thank God he put a sock in it.
