wow that's alot of money for him ... interesting that it averages to about 6 mil a year which is what Welker got. He didn't accept that perhaps from NE. Hard feelings maybe? Amendola should be productive!
Very happy about this move. Other than the lack of chemistry with Brady, he is Welker V2. Given the same type of deal Welker received back in 2007, except that Amendola is more proven at this point in his career than Welker was. Hopefully the freak injuries he has had are over.
seems like they over paid for a good receiver with injury problem and let a 110 reception guy with a proven track record on your team walk away for nothing. I don't get this move.
FUCK FUCK FUCK!!! I LOVE Amendola. He's so underrated, and now basically all that happened was The Patriots made Wes Welker younger, and extended him, changed his name to Amendola. Fucking Great.
This......no way he is as durable as welker. I don't think he is as quick so that will translate into more hits.
Man, Bob Kraft replaced Welker with Amendola faster than he replaced his dead wife with that 20 year old model
The Patriots reportedly only offered Welker $10M/2 years. Welker supposedly gave the Pats a chance to match Denver's offer before accepting it, so I don't think there were hard feelings. Maybe now there are. Only $10M guaranteed though... right now it looks like a moderate risk, but not a huge one. We'll have to wait and see more of the contract details, because this could essentially be a $10M/2 year contract, or it could be a "true" 5 year contract with clauses that protect the Patriots from paying him more $$$ if he is injured often, or any number of other possibilities. I'm don't think this is the path I would have chosen if I were in charge, but I'm not overly upset over it either.
Brilliant move by NE, they basically got a guy just as good only 4 years younger. Obviously he won't have the chemistry w/ Brady right off the bat but overall NE will not miss a beat.
In the first two years (4 total) of Danny's career he played KR/PR/WR and played 30/32 games. In his last two years he's played 9/32 games. Definitely a valuable asset but I think it's fair to be wary of his injury concerns.
