Even if we can't bring in Landry, you bring in Y Bell before C Woodson. They are the same player at this point in coverage with Woodson being more of a playmaker, however Bell would be cheaper and knows the coverage shells/system.
I hope at some point our FO will focus on building from young talent, and letting the team build some chemistry.
Right on point. We don't need to spend that much on an over aged safety, we're not going to compete for a super bowl next year. We need to get younger at the position. If we don't sign any free agent safetys I wouldn't mind seeing a rotation of Allen, bush and a draft pick. They need the experience and we need to see if they can be part of our future. If this is truely a rebuilding year then we can afford to play three young players at safety and take the bad with the good. I know a lot of fans will disagree with my opinion. My first option is to Resign Landry and revis and trade cromartie And draft a safety in rounds 2-4
Our defense is loaded with young players. I would be okay with bringing in Woodson for some veteran leadership to play Safety for the right salary. It is a no lose situation as long as it's not longer than a year or two. As great as Landry played last year it scares me bringing him back on a huge deal when he is so injury prone
Woodson probably plays for under $3M next year and with no long-term cap commitment. I wouldn't bring him in on a rebuilding squad but to suggest that Woodson and Revis are the same thing at this point is silly. One of them is a couple of cheap years away from retirement and the other is going to be a cap albatross for whoever signs him into 2017 or so.
because we arent doing anything on offense with sanchez at qb anyhow. might as well build the defense
Being a Michigan fan, I am a Big fan of Woodson... But I find it absolutely amazing how people want to get rid of Revis because of $$ or Say GTFO to Landry because he's "injury prone" Yet, are willing to pay another vet who is just making a few more $$ off of his past..who by the way, broke his Collarbone. While It's no ACL or achilles he still missed half the season.. ironic huh? Look I understand the whole "but you can get a savvy vet like Woodson for cheap" .....uhhh, ................no. It's throwing away money IMO. I honestly think his tank has run dry... Also, does anyone remember him getting torched in the playoffs the past few years? Guess not, they forget that shit quickly when they want a player...
