No, seriously, why wouldn't you ask for Kaepernick straight up? I mean both will want around $16M. Revis is the best; Kaepernick is also pretty good... Madden approves, I'm sure.
........... 1) No he isn't. He's DAMN good and certainly in the conversation, but I'd take Deion. 2) He has a torn ACL, he has 1 year left on his contract before he wants crazy money, and he's 27-28 years old. 3) Aldon has the most sacks in his first 2 years in NFL history. Thats two more than Reggie White. 4) Aldon still has a few years left on his rookie contract. Come on dude. Its all good to love a player on your team...but lets be at least slightly real here. If the 49ers offered Aldon Smith for Revis and the #9 pick, the Jets just might take it. Its situational more than anything else. Its not a talent 1 to 1 issue.
The Jets have an abundance of #1-caliber CBs. I don't know what the depth is like for the 49ers at OLB. I could see why they wouldn't want to trade a young player, especially if he can continue this kind of play next year.
Aldon won't be traded. Period. Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis, Navorro Bowman, and Ahmad Brooks are quite possibly the best quartet of LBs since the Dome Patrol in New Orleans in the 80's. None of those guys are going anywhere for a very long time. The Niners don't have terrible corners. They could use BETTER corners, but there is no way they would trade a guy who's 23 and set an alltime record for sacks in his first 2 years (passing the likes of Reggie White and Derrick Thomas) for a CB who will only be around for a year and is coming off a serious injury. I'd LOVE to have Revis, but my guess is that the 49ers won't offer more than a #2. If thats not enough (and I suspect it isn't) then the Jets will have to look for another trade partner or lose him next year in Free Agency and get only a pick at the end of the 3rd round (compensatory pick) in the 2015 NFL Draft. Or they could resign him and have a ludicrous amount of money invested in ONE CB.
the #34 pick and a conditional one next year sounds about right. I like Revis a lot, but this is too good an opportunity to perhaps address a bit more of our offensive woes. (We can basically have our pick of the offensive flock at 34) Our secondary seemed fine without him, and would likely be stellar with him, but the fact remains he's a luxury when a more pressing need must be addressed, with lower cost and potentially high reward options n the draft. to trade Cro means potentially losing both of our best corners by years end, so I'm not liking that option. this trade would be the right move. I'd miss him though, heres hoping theres room for darelle in san fran.
I'm tellin' ya....won't happen. Look...I'd LOVE to have Revis in red and gold. It would be a HUGE upgrade... ...but the Niners aren't going to give up that much for a 1 year player. They DO NOT have that much space to pay him what he wants. I suspect Darrelle is going to have to find a team willing to sink HUGE $$$$ into one CB and just be OK with the fact that he'll never be on a winning team because he makes too much money. The Only way the 49ers give up major picks for him is if he decides to take less money than he's been asking for on an extension to his contract. If he were willing to do that tho the Jets wouldn't be trying to trade him in the first place. I really don't think ANY team (in particlar a team with a GM like Baalke) will be willing to trade a #1 for him. It has NOTHING to do with his ability as he is clearly work mutiple 1's all things being equal. They aren't equal tho.
well technically it wouldn't be a number 1, which yes I doubt anybody gives up for him. but I get it. it seems his salary is the only thing holding this back then? I'm wondering if anything can be arranged between he and san fran that would alleviate that problem (or rather if theres something they can do for him that NYJ can't) give this a 40% likelihood, it really could go either way.
Revis is the best CB in the league today when healthy. Outside of Jets Nation, there is no general belief that he's the best ever. He hasn't dominated long enough. Also: There is NO WAY Niners would be stupid enough to give up Aldon Smith for Revis. If they pulled off moves like that they wouldn't be a SB favorite with a bucket load of picks.
I would take the 31 and 34. The longer it draws out the greater the possibility that he reinjures himself or winds up just walking away.
Late 2nd & Early 3rd (round 2 #29 & round 3 #12) do you see Niners going for this? Or do you see late 2nd and nothing else. Not even late 3rd rounder or 4th rounder from Niners?
You're looking at the talent when healthy and not paying attention to the contract issues. He's a one-year rental. If he was on another team, we'd think it's crazy to give up a Late-1st rounder for one year of Revis. When Revis walks away, the Jets will likely get a third round compensatory pick. Look at it as a late third or early fourth rounder. And that comp pick is something Jets need to wait for. Doesn't even come that immediate draft.
You're absolutely insane if you think that is this case. You honeslty think not one out 31 teams would give up at least a second for Revis?
An abundance? Not of they trade Revis. They will have only Cro as a top caliber cb if they did. Wilson may have been a #1 pick, but he's not playing like one, and probably never will.
Am I insane, or you do you lack reading comprehension skills? Why don't you simply scroll up to see multiple posts by me centered around a 2nd rounder. Or perhaps you should google compensatory pick.
