As a Niner fan...it would be a dream.

You can only pay so many players tho. They have their entire LB corps signed for the next several years, but they will need to resign Crab and kaep next year.

They don't have the $$$ to pay everyone AND Revis.

It would have to be a one-year type thing and they won't give up all those picks for a one-year player. They would rather use those picks to expand their Championship "window".

    "Bust", really?
SF already very good. Adding DR gor several worthless for them picks is a fair trade. It's not like they'll become Jax if they won't get SB.

Revis will not be a Jet for very long. Accept it and get over it.
And start thinking about Almighty WHO will become your next name.

Niners don't operate like that and there is no such thing as "worthless" picks. If they were worthless, the Jets wouldn't want them either.

They would be much more likely to go get Nnamdi if he is released on the cheap than give up a bunch of fairly high picks for a 1 year rental. Its true that they are good right now, but they want to stay that way. You don't do that by trading a number of picks for a guy you have for one year.

If I was the 49ers I would trade the newly acquired 2nd round pick and their first round pick to trade up to our 9 spot if Dee is available. Cheaper than Revis and the Jets pick up more picks. Makes sense right?

Rapaport said he would be surprised if Niners make a play on REvis. they have to pay Kaepernick and Crabtree.

    Hrmmm.

    That might be interesting.

I dunno if Dee falls that far after that combine performance, but the "draft value chart" would put the value of those 2 picks around #14 or #15. That might be the only player tho that they might do that for.

    Thats what I've been saying.

They could only do it for 1 year unless Revis agreed to much less money....but if that were the case he wouldn't be on the block to begin with.

If the Niners are only looking at this as a 1 year thing, the picks they are willing to give up will be far less than most of you are hoping. That's why as much as I'd like to see it happen, it probably won't.

BTW...Adam Shefter reported that some radio jock out there suggested the Niners 1, 2 and ALDON SMITH!?! What's he smoking?

The picks have less value for your guys because your team is already extremely good. Say, you keep them... Who would you pick on the draft that would replace a currently active player? There is nobody of value for SF. Jets, on the other hand, have several major holes to plug.
"Worthless" was on term of relative value of the picks, not absolute, perhaps I didn't explain it well.

As to Nnamdi... Sure he will be cheaper, but how sure are you he'd put you over the top of Bal? Maybe he would, but I don't think so.

Aldon Smith and a first maybe.

I just don't really see anything that I'd want from the 49ers. Not much to offer.

Draft picks are valuable to everyone. They don't just represent players. They are currency. The 49ers can trade picks this year for better picks next year. They can use lower picks to move up and get a guy with the higher picks.

The Niners treat them like gold...that's how they got this many this year to begin with. They want to position themsleves to be really good for a long, long time.

IE...they aren't just going to expend a bunch of them for a 1 year rent-a-player. Might they make an offer for Revis? Of course they might...but it IMO it won't be what you guys are hoping for.

you don't have to keep DR beyond 2013 if you don't want to. It can easily be a 1 year rental. Besides, there is a possibility of Revis being open for discount for potential 2-3 SB rings.

IMO, your strongest point is "SF doesn't operate like this" line. You're most certainly have more knowledge in this area than anyone here, and I can't argue about it. I can say however that is roles were reversed -- SF shopping out a shutdown corner while my Jets are a corner away from SB -- I'd signed up for this in a heartbeat. But again, this is a Jets fan's perspective, I can see how yours can be different.

    ...........yeah. LOL. Keep dreamin.

The 49ers won't trade Aldon for Revis straight up. He's 23 and has 33.5 sacks in 2 seasons.

Its not that I don't think they'd be in the market for a 1 year rental...I just don't think it would be for as much as most of you are hoping for.

Trust me...I LOVE the idea of putting Revis out there...I'm just trying to be realistic

like I said, I can't argue SF's organizational philosophy. Hope that you're mistaken -- Jets need extra peaks rather badly.

The value is not right on that deal. It would take the 49ers 3rd rounder and 4th rounder also to get in the ball park. Even if the trade value charts are somewhat inaccurate this year you don't give up a top 10 pick for the 31 and the 34.

Sure, that'll happen... why not just ask for Koepernick straight up? Just about as much sense.
