I noticed that too, and he actually said that himself after the Patriots game drop.

He said that hes perfect on the machine, but the speed of the game and nerves cause him to get those drops. He said that the Patriots game drop happens because HR was already thinking about turning around and running with it. Took his concentration off catching the ball and put it on running with it.

I definitely think he will improve.

Hill is going to be a very good NFL WR. Silly fans tend to go bonkers when a rookie WR isn't immediately the next Jerry Rice.

I honestly dont expect much from him. He is gonna have to learn a whole new offense the second in 2 years. This year will be a make or break year for him.He isnt a crisp routee runner his hands are like rocks. So im not holding my breath with this kid

He was never the typical rookie WR, Hill caught about 7 passess in his college carrer and we took him in the second round because he is 6'4 and is suppose to be fast. He has already cost us games by dropping easy catches. No one is expecting anyone to be Jerry Rice were expecting him to be atleast Braylon Edwards,He was more of a 3rd rounder

Take an off-season work on the fundamentals, he'll be a much better player next season. I def expect a better season then last year, but that 3rd season that's when things begin to click for WRs

In thinking about this, that's very true about the third year. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking about Crabtree, Demetrius Thomas, and Jacoby Jones -- I'm sure that there are other examples, but, in any event, that's a really good point.

Ill consider his next year productive if he stretches out the field for Kerley, Holmes, the RBs, and whoever the TE is. As long as he's keeping the defenses backed up a bit ill consider his season productive.

And you are basing this on what exactly? At this point, nobody has any reason to believe he'll be a "very good NFL WR"... it's a stretch for him to get to the level of an average NFL WR.

He will probably improve some (as he can't get much worse).

Believe me, I'm not asking him to be Jerry Rice - at this point, I'd settle for Chris Burkett or freakin Justin McCariens.. and that's sad... those guys sucked but at least they didn't hurt the team by being SO LOST.

I think the shock of getting a catchable pass from Sanchez was the problem. A good QB might be all Hill needs for success.

In training camp I saw Hill beat Revis by 5 yards on a nice fly route only to have Sanchez's nicely thrown 50yrd deep rainbow CLANK off his outstretched forearms in the end zone. Ouch.

I thought Rex drafted Hill to be a blocker on the outside in support of the G&P. And now we want him to catch passes too????? Sheeeesh.

he caught a hamstring bug. looked promising against Buffalo in our opener. he will only get better, he came from a team that hardly passed the ball. he works on his hands and he will be among the cream of the crop of receivers.

while he may be a little crazy, there are certain things he is dead right about regarding this team. and i used to argue with him like crazy during schotty times haha.

hill definitely needs to improve but that doesnt mean that i think he wont. being in a good system with a good offensive staff will help a ton as well as the added experience from his rookie season. i wouldnt expect him to come out and shock the world but he should have a nice second year behind someone like braylon most likely and will develop into a good receiver for the team in the next couple of seasons.

I would like to add, his adjustment to the speed of the NFL, the defensive schemes, and individual matchups against professional defensive backs, surely he will improve. How many games did he miss this year, and who against? Just sayin!

It's hard to run full speed and catch the ball. It's hard to snap your head around and catch a ball that is on you in less than a second. It's hard to do both of those things while running the route tree that a modern offense requires.

Without having seen somebody do those three things consistently it's really hard to project them as a plus player at the NFL level. If Stephen Hill turns into a plus player for the Jets it will be because of his hard work and a hell of a lot of luck.

Some NFL def. backs play physical due to nature, or scheme and some play not so physical in nature or scheme. Then the opposition defensive scheme comes completely the focus. Man to man and zone defensive teams and the personell matchups they contain situationally change, and hill has to learn to change on the fly. If they master this, hot routes become a Qb's best friend against the eminent pass rush. The signal to the Qb "ill be open and on the spot" should be quick yardage maybe more. Provided the Qb is accurate and on time. Especially in the west coast offense.

I would say go back and watch week 1.

As green as he was, at that point....he looked pretty good. Does he need some work....yes.

You can't shit the bed on that pass in the Pats game.

He will be a plus player barring real injury.

I said numerous times last season that he overthought everything. The best thing for him was to have passes thrown high where he just lets his athletic ability take over. The mental aspect can sometimes destroy the physical aspect. Same thing with Sanchez.

I agree, but many small injuries are as bad as a real injury. He needs to stay healthy. I think he'll be playmaker. I'm putting the Pats drop behind me.
