CC, I happen to agree with a lot of things you say, but since I picture Archer saying it, you could be saying the absurd stuff Demos says and I'd probably nod along with it.
Wait a sec. In one sentence you say that if Tebow knew how things would have gone, then he wouldn't have come to NY, but then you say that he went to NY because of the larger platform ? He had that larger platform whether he was the starter or not. Your answer contradicts your premise. IF the "larger market" was the reason for coming to NY, then Tebow would have come here regardless.
No it doesn't. He probably thought he'd continue being the media darling he always was since high school. Thought the focus would be on what a great guy he was and his religion. When his tenure with the jets turned into a disaster, and THAT became the focus, he probably wasn't wanting any part of it anymore. About the only focus in the media he was getting toward the end of the year was on how terrible he was, how he might not have a job in the NFL, became the least wanted man, the disaster of the Jets front office and how his name keeps popping up with that turmoil... I don't see HOW he imagined THAT as a possibility. After a year like THAT in New York, it looks like his platform that he was getting through the NFL is coming to a close.... after ONE YEAR. Probably wasn't expecting that, and is probably thinking his career would be in better shape had he chose Jacksonville. Like it or not, though, and no matter how hard you try to spin it.... the media exposure was probably the most attractive part of going to New York over Jacksonville, and that is ultimately why he made the decision. Bigger platform. He had no way of knowing the Jets would want nothing to do with him within a year after putting him everywhere but starting QB, EVEN after the disasterous season Sanchez was having. Even you gotta admit, what New York gave him PROBABLY wasn't what he was expecting as far as exposure does.
Meh, if the media attention was solely his concern (and I agree that it is why he chose New York), he could have received nothing but positive press by doing his role without complaint. If he just played football, he would have been very popular (as all backup QBs tend to be) while Sanchez struggled. The fact that he essentially quit on the team and demanded to be traded suggests that his image isn't his only concern. Granted, he has a history of quitting on his team when he's not allowed to play QB (he did the same thing in high school), but if all he cared about was his image, he probably would have swallowed his pride and played the good teammate.
"Tebow was homeschooled as a kid, but was allowed to play football for a local Florida high school. He started out playing tight end and linebacker before switching schools (and stirring up controversy) so he could play quarterback for a more pass-oriented offense." My point is that it made much more sense to come to New York because Rex and company ACTUALLY WANTED HIM, as compared to everything that was said about Jax, which is that the owner was forcing the move onto he coaching staff. Look at the situation he was coming out of. He had Elway and Fox, neither of who believed in him or really supported him. To the tune that even after he took them to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years, they sought to trade him. Why in the world would he want to go to Jax and be under a coach and GM who didn't want him, when instead, he could go to a team where the Coach and GM were happy to have him and actually wanted the trade ? So no, it wasn't the larger media exposure in New York that was the driving issue. Again, look to the quote that YOU provided: The "larger platform" was an added bonus.
There's nothing wrong with it, just another example of him rather going to another team than doing whatever it takes to help his current team. It's the same mentality that lead to him asking out of the wildcat.
BETWEEN SCHOOL YEARS. In other words, after the football season was over, Tebow transferred to another school. Question, have you ever given your 2 weeks notice and left one company to work for another. In those final 2 weeks, did you continue to perform your job to the best of your abilities ? Or did you say "Fark it" and slide through to the last day ?
To answer your question, no I haven't. But also, your example isn't relevant to Tebow because he asked out of his role when he "gave his notice". I don't think he did anything wrong in high school. It's just part of his history of refusing to play where he wouldn't be allowed to play QB.
here you are continuing to treat rumor as fact, after Tebow, on camera, flatly denied the allegation and no one has stepped forward to contradict him.
Tebow flatly denied that he had any say. You agree that he chose the Jets. You are agreeing with the opposite of what he said when he lied about not choosing the Jets. Thus, you agreed that he lied.
No, I didn't agree that he lied. As I said to CC, he didn't directly answer the question. He replied that "ultimately, THEY had the power" which is true as Tebow didn't make the decision.
Serious. The guy doesn't directly answer questions that could be controversial. It's like in 2011 if he was asked about the support of Elway or something like that. He'd respond saying that he was lucky to be part of such a great organization and to be playing for such great coaches. Its a PR answer through and through, to be sure, but that's what he does.
