The Falcons defense got better every single year he was with the team. They started near the bottom of the league and got near the top 10 before he left. I'm not sure how you can consider that terrible. I do think people are over reacting (as usual). He isn't going to be running the defense, just teaching the young LBs. It's hilarious, that all other coaching moves have been good, yet people see one questionable one and go ballistic saying Woody knows nothing and that he's an idiot. Holy selective memory batman! I like the fact that this guy has lots of experience.
I feel your pain, although that's actually the way 98% of this forum has been spelling it since last winter.
I've followed Van Gorder since his UGA days. He was a very good coach for the Bulldogs. His next job at Ga. Southern was a train wreck!! Since then he's bounced around a lot. You shouldn't get too upset with this hire if you're not a BVG fan ... the entire coaching staff will get the axe after next season.
I do not know what next year's record will be ... but I do see a developing trend in wins and losses: 2010 11-5 2011 8-8 2012 6-10 Do you see which direction the Jets are going? I think Rex Ryan is a good coach BUT I don't see things changing with the leadership and talent of this team.

Your new LB coach is the POS who came to my school a few years back and stripped every single tradition we had in place with the mindset that he would build a new power house program of his own. After a dismal 3 win season, his punk ass left and never looked back. Matter of fact, that POS's name is not allowed to be mentioned by anyone who wears our colors and if said name is mentioned, he is immediately flogged and stripped of his degree. This asshat is the one who responded to a reported by stating "It's a China Route... you wouldn't know what that is but it's tough to defend." He constantly blames his players and throws them under the bus. As a coach, I'm not sure how he keeps getting hired on because he sucks, period. As you would say... he "S, U, C, K, S! SUCKS, SUCKS, SUCKS!" Anyways, have fun with that loser and tell him we don't ever want his sorry tail coming back to the south. You northern folk can keep him. Better yet, why don't you send him further north to Montreal or some other CFL team. Maybe they can defend a China Route? I really do feel sorry for you. That guy is total garbage. Lower than pond scum. If you ever see him on fire, just let him burn. As we say in the south, "Sorry y'all. And bless your hearts!"
Wasn't Sutton a horrible DC? Now he is God's gift to LB coaches?? The overreaction on this board to every move the Jets make is absurd.
Nobody said Sutton was not the piece of shit that he was. BVG is another kind of shit - but shit nonetheless. So, since BVG replaced Sutton, I have to like that? Does that even make sense?
