omg, it's amazing how many bad Jets memories I have repressed. Totally forgot about that play until you post.
Snap was a little high and fast, Play is fuckin hilarious regardless and earns its rightful place in the Jets blooper reel, lol he just never looked up its very similar to the butt fumble, Where was he looking????The thud from the football shook his helmet to make it worse, I was to young to even be a Football fan when this happened so its my first time ever seeing this play wow im glad i wasn't around for this
I love how the first place he looks for the ball is behind him... dude it smacked you right in the side of the helmet so let's look behind for the ball... classic Jets
its close to being behind him... perpendicular for sure i dont think to this day he actually knows where the ball went.
Don't worry about it man. When these things happen live, I look up @ the sky & scream. When I watch them in flashbacks, I just laugh it off. Bloopers from that long ago are all fun. One thing we can always say about the Jets, they will never be boring. Looking at this clip once again I can't stop laughing how Aguiar appears to be wiping his ass as the ball just slams into his helmet. Then he stands up & looks in the exact opposite direction. He was one of a kind but oddly he still fits right into Jets lore.
A truly pathetic game on national television no less. I bet the NBC Executives were patting themselves on the back after this one. Junc do you remember the Jets going for a fourth and goal and Boomer hitting a wide open Fred Baxter only for him to drop it? Stats wise the Jets dominated the game...Johnny Johnson ran for 155 yards. The defense posted their second consecutive road shutout that day. They beat NE 6-0 two weeks earlier in a monsoon at Foxboro....
Yes. at least if we scored a Td and it was 10-0 it wouldn't have been so bad. I have that game on tape somewhere in the archives
if special teams score a td, they can always play " louie, lou-i-eh" over the stadium loudspeaker system.....
That was a tough stretch and that was when I started going to every game, I saw every one of those home games in person in that era.hmy:
