Seriously, who gives a shit at this point? Anyone with a brain knows Tannenbaum was a scapegoat. This was just another lame attempt by Woody and his PR buddies to save face. Non-story.
Yep, it's all Woody's fault. Woody forced Tannenbaum to give atrocious contracts to terrible players. He also forced Tannenbaum to trade for Tebow by giving away draft picks. Yep, all Woody's fault.
At this point even if Ben and Jerry's surveillance cameras caught the whole thing, people would still think Woody and his PR team staged a scene with some look-a-likes.
Im not saying he didnt do some good things. I have no idea if he's well respected around the league or not....neither do you. But I still dont get how this translates into his jumping on his own grenade to help his future. He volunteered the info. This CANNOT help him in anyway....youre telling me the other owners around the league know it was Woody's decision and now will look favorably on Tanny for taking the hit and possibly give him a job in the future in case tehy need someone to take a bullet for them??? Is this really your theory? Come on man.....youre much better than this. Here's my theory. Woody says it wasnt his idea. Tanny says it was his own fault. Aaaaaaaaan thats my theory in a nutshell
I really don't give a shit either way. Why? Because in the end, we're stuck with Tebow, we wasted a year on this bullshit, and now we're a fckn laughing stock. So, for those who believed Woody, Congrats and enjoy the 5 seconds of feelgood. Tomorrow morning, we're still a organization trying to straighten itself out. Nothing really changed. Tebow is here, the Jets aren't any closer to contention for a SB, and the perception of the franchise is one of borderline incompetence. Now that we've solved this great mystery as to who really wanted Tebow, which evidently is akin to asking who really wanted the Ebola Virus, can we move on to how to make this franchise viable and credible again or do we still wallow in the world of 8-8 being a winning season or 2 AFCGG losses is good enough.
If you see,my posts on the other threads, it's reported that Sparano didn't have a clue about ANYTHING..,.,with David Lee and MM, and a healthy cast...this offense can finally complement the defense.
Exactly. The fact is this doesn't really do anything for me and we will never know the true story. Remember, Tanny is a man who wants to work in the NFL. what do you expect him to say? "It was all Woody's fault! I fought him tooth and nail on this Tebow thing and he forced me to do it. Woody is a dick". Watch the job offers flow in after that.... If we are ever going to really know what happened we need to find out from parties without motives and biases in the story or whose motives and biases are no longer at play. Woody has motive to change his story, so does Tanny, and Rex as well. Who else would be privy to these conversations without feeling the need to tow party line? Without that party being available only time will tell. After Rex or Tanny retire their stories can be accepted more at face value. If this story remains the same at that time, then I'll accept it. For the moment, if this is true then it proves that Tanny didn't really have a really good grasp of personnel. If it isn't true and Woody did this for publicity, then he is really as big a dick as I've always thought. Of course there is another possibility: BOTH are true and Tanny is simply omitting the Woody part for the sake of his future employability. If that is true then this organization has been even more screwed up than I feared. Here's hoping Idzik isnt an idiot.
what difference does it make who decided to bring Tebow in?It was up to Sparano to use him in a way to helpthe team.Sparano failed and made the whole thing look bad. They didnt want Tebow in Denver but they found a way to use him.
Exactly correct. Plus, in in taking full responsibility, Tanny was able to paint himself as 'the buck stops here' type of GM, not just a feeble 'yes man' for the HC. This is a trait we're all waiting to see if Idzik has.....
It's a great one actually. Tanny wants another job. Every NFL owner would ask about the Tebow situation. He either blames Woody or says it was him...What looks better towards a future employer? Blaming another owner or owning up to a mistake? You accuse my theory of being nonsense yet come away with its main point...Full responsibility is the best situation for him. A group one shifts blame which is no good.
Built the best all around the team the Jets have fielded in decades in 08 until Favre hurt his arm. The best defensive team the Jets every fielded in 09 and a very solid team in 10. Yup Tannenbaum sucked.
He took the fall and admitted his mistakes, I think he'll get another job in the near future. I never believed a word tanny said to the public, and this is no different just another cover up "in the process"
Sounds to me like Tanny is eating a grenade here to enhance his prospects of ever working in football again.
Hilarious how the conspiracy theory nuts refuse to believe the truth. Tanny told the truth, manned up and took responsibility for the consequences of his decisions. Still we have loons who think everybody is lying ... b/c its all about psls.:lol:
hmy:really? really? was woody the so-called salary cap expert who screwed the team and its fans with the current mess directly as a result of guaranteed contracts given to suckchise, scott, hunter, etc. ? both GM and Chrysler ended up in bankruptcy after making the mistake of putting bean-counters in management as ceo's. bean counters can barely manage a ledger, let alone an entire company. woody is to blame for giving tanneybum the Gm job in the first place. question is whether he repeated the same mistake with idzik?:shit:
