You realize the offseason hasn't started yet, right? I sometimes wonder if these Jets fans take this loser mentality into their real lives and if so how pathetic their life must be.

Really. The off-season is not over yet. Let's see how we do in the draft and the free agent/trade markets. Seriously.

Pettine was a fucking high school coach a decade ago. Good riddance. He couldn't call a game to save his life.

This is likely why he became bitter and began leaking info. He stopped wanting to hold a placard for Rex.

Thurman is probably ready. And if he is not, Rex will take over again.

Yes it does make you a dumb ass. Explain how promoting our best assistant coach was a bad move and will make us worse? Pettine was horrible at play calling and Thurman was already a big part of the game plans. So the fact that he has good players in his secondary should be held against him? Also we won 6 games this year with an absolutely horrid offense. But now that we promoted Thurman we are 4-12 before the draft and FA has even happened.

God you are a whiny bitch. I would hate to know you in real life if this is the kind of attitude you carry around. Uneducated and crybaby is an awful combination.

Thurman is a good choice for DC. Rex will help him become a great DC. Just wish we had a HC to tutor REX.

I'm really not sure how the promotion of the best position coach on the team is an indication that this will be a 4-12 season.

You can look at offense and special teams and get a stomach-ache, but Pettine was as close as it gets to a lame duck coordinator, and the defense really stayed pretty solid this season.

Assuming that Thurman will just concentrate on the secondary all season is a stupid assumption.

Not to mention slow as molasses LBs in a D that favors good LB play. The D coaches under Rex have done a fine job of getting most of their players to perform at a high level. That includes Thurman who had also coached the Dline at one point, right? I like his promotion to DC- the D isn't broken so no need to fix too much.

It doesn't matter who they name as the DC, it's still Rex's defense

The D has been the best part of this team since Rex took over. This promotion from within helps Jets maintain the same coaching structure/philosophy over on the defensive side of the ball. Jets fans should be very happy with Dennis Thurman.

It's possible that the defense will go down next season because there's going to be a lot of roster change there. If the D does take a step back it isn't gonna be from hiring the wrong DC.

Oddly enough you whined yourself into a suspension. Thanks for your thoughts.

Rex calls the shot on D. Thurman is really the assistant DC.

That's an assumption, and probably wrong. Rex allowed Pettine to call the D a couple of years ago, to detrimental results. Then after a season of lame duckness, Pettine takes a walk.

We can all assume that he wanted to get out of Ryan's shadow, but being given a responsibity like that and then having it stripped is not exactly a source of pride for a football coach.

My own theory is the same as the Schotty theory. Rex was too soft to outright fire Schotty.

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...tenheimer-new-york-jets-offensive-coordinator

Schotty was allowed to save face and walk. This is akin to a business asking for an executive's resignation, or a military general being forced to retire after a scandal.

The same thing happened with Pettine. He was "offered" an extension, "declined it" and went to work for a competitor. This after allegations that he was a media leak.

Because, once again, Rex couldn't sack up and cut him loose outright.

No, the GM was fired, because Rex as a DC was not allowed to come ian and name an offensive staff. Tanny mismanaged the situation. When Rex wanted Hue Jackson, mtheympursued him and lost, than Tanny got,Sparano, and lost Haley.

Really. So when I see Rex standing on the sideline before a play calling the defensive formation, that is an assumption? The whold world knows Rex runs this offense. ou just said it yourself. He tied to give Pettine some rope and Pettine flopped. So Rex went back to doing it. By the way, why would Buffalo hire Pettine? If he failed at calling defense here?

thurmans a good choice, i dont get what the fuss is about

yeh its rex's system, but this guy knows rex's system, and will introduce his own new ideas into the system already in place. hopefully hes better at the run than pettine. these past couple years are the worst against the run a rex d has ever been, im thinking that has something to do with pettine. at least i hope.

I've already explained the situation. Am I supposed to compensate for your misunderstanding of it as well?

Maybe you need to start taking into account the new situation with a new GM.

Rex is now forced to improve himself as an overall head coach. Getting rid of his lame duck defensive coordinator was the beginning step in that process.

He will begin to delegate authority, and immerse himself into running the entire team, or he will get his ass fired.

By the way, Buffalo hired Pettine because they are retards. It's not like they have made any intelligent hires in the past two decades.
