Pretty much. Your GM tells everyone what they are going to do every off-season.. This year all he's talked about is upgrading the Qb position pretty blatantly...

That coupled with the fact they would have to be really really stupid to keep him past that date so he gets that roster bonus and stays at the contract he's at kind of makes it pretty obvious he will be cut before that June 1st or whatever date..

It's definitely possible the Bills sign him back up after releasing him for less money, but they will definitely release him first

I think IF they release Fitzpatrick, it will have more to do with some type of "culture change" shift and not so much the salary cap. Here's the math:

-By cutting Fitzpatrick we only save $450,000 against the cap. That's nothing.
-By cutting Fitzpatrick we save $4.25 million in cash. However, if we were to do this, we wouldn't really save the $4.25 mil because we'd need to sign another veteran backup. So it is basically a wash.

Looking at who's available on the market as a veteran backup, I'd much rather keep Fitzpatrick over those scrubs. Couple that with the fact that you would only save about $2 milion for having a shittier backup QB, and I dont see the sense in cutting him.

I'm not saying he wont get cut. Its certainly possible the new staff wants their own guy and doesn't want the old mentality around. That makes sense. But if they cut him, I think that will have a lot to do with it and not necessarily about saving money (since we wouldn't).

It will be both a monetary decision and a football decision.

Make no mistake, You have a cheap owner and a businessman running the show now - the $4.25 Million in cash is a significant number to them- especially since he doesn't deserve it.

The new staff is going to want a new QB as well. Fitz will be cut and they will draft a QB early (Glennon 1st? Nassib late first/early second? etc) and they will go forward with them.

Lol. Jamarcus Russell was so bad that they refused to let Pryor use his number. Gotta be the only player in sports to have his number retired for sucking.

JaMarcus Russell? In that case I would prefer Sanchez to remain the starter.

No way I'd want Young or Russell.

    1) They really suck

    2) They are really stupid

    3) Imagine the NY media circus...

When you're 320, you can lose 12 pounds by taking a poop. I'll pass on this waste.

    Cheap owner? Wtf? LOL.

In the last year alone the guy spent $100 million on Mario Williams, $62 million on Ryan Fitzpatrick, $39 million on Stevie Johnson, $25 million on Mark Anderson, shelled out other contracts on George Wilson, Fred Jackson, Kraig Urbik, Kyle Williams, Nick Barnett...

Oh and he's spending something like $40 million or more out of his pocket on stadium renovations.

But yeah, what a cheapskate. You have no idea what you're talking about dude.
