If Sanchez comes back he needs to be somewhere around 30tds 9 int 1fum and lead us deep in the playoffs again to come back , he needs to have a huge year if we decide to start him one last time
I can count on 1 hand how many throws he has made like this over a 4 year span, He can do it he just doesn't , wether or not it's a lack of play makers or the OC being conservative or Sanchez himself remains the question
95% of QBs in the NFL can make that kind of throw. Whats separates the great ones from the not so great ones is the ability to do it consistently.
For 2013, it doesn't matter whether Sanchez turns it around or not because, as pointed out, we're most likely stuck with him (absent a miracle restructuring and trade). What we're all debating in this thread, and others on the board, is whether or not there is a realistic chance that Sanchez turns it around and becomes a decent QB (a la Alex Smith). The majority of posters, myself included, believe that the odds are strongly against Sanchez becoming the QB that this organization thought it drafted with the fifth overall pick. The Sanchez defenders are arguing that there's still a decent chance that he turns it around. On some level, I, like most Jets fans, would like to believe that Sanchez can become that QB -- there's evidence that he can be accurate and clutch, especially during the 2010 season. But, over the course of the past 19 games, the trend has been sloping downwards. And fast. Sanchez has played his way through the good graces of a lot of Jets fans, including myself. Still, there is a non-zero chance that Sanchez turns it around. But it would take some great numbers (e.g., 25+ TDs and less than 15 turnovers) for him win back the crowd and remain with this franchise after 2013.
Are you talking about teh Texans game? That was an incredibly difficult throw and it was thrown perfectly by Sanchez.
So your saying Sanchez should be given another extension because he made a good throw 3 years ago??? What about the last two years where's the highlight packages for years 3 and 4??? You know how rare a "Buttfumble" is??? Or a QB throwing into triple coverage??? You know how rarethat level of incompetance is ??

He's said that 2012 was an extremely bad year but that we've seen Sanchez play really well in the playoffs and brought us back MANY times in 2010.
No. His accuracy is RELATIVELY fine, when he knows what he's being asked to do. Which is why I suspect MM will get him ver the 60 pct hump. Go back and watch week 1 v. Buffalo, or the St Louis game...he can... You just need to cut down on the thinking, or put in terms that. He grasps.
There's just to many guys walking into the league and killing it in there first years, I have no faith in Sanchez to get better in year 5
someone said he couldn't make those types of throws, clearly he can. To say that was more of a great cacth is asinine. It was a spectacular throw. Yes he was brutal this year but the 2010 clips give us a glimpse of what he was and what he can be.
That is just 100% false. That was a perfect throw. It is possible to not like Sanchez and not have to bash everything he has ever done. I dont think Sanchez is a good QB but with an actual OC he will be much better. The confusion of him throwing one direction and the WRs running another should be over.
Of course, the bigger picture with Sanchez is not analyzing one good throw. The problem most have with him is the consisently poor throws. Staring down receivers (leading to jumped balls/ batted down balls), ridiculous (and extremely risky) ill-advised shovel passes, balls thrown too high, too low, too wide, too short, too long, too late, too early, to the wrong shoulder, to the ankles, behind the receiver, poorly timed or even directly at a DB. Terrible pocket presence, indecision and complete unawareness of what's happening around him, leading to fumbles, batted out balls, head-butting buttocks' of O-linemen and loss of downs and yards and turnovers. Checking down too quickly (not noticing deeper opportunities), throwing into 2-3 man coverage, desperation passes and not throwing the ball away when necessary. You expect this from 1st and 2nd-year players. If this behavior actually gets worse in your 3rd year (the last 4 of 5 of 2011) and then really manifests itself beginning in the fall of 2012, continuing throughout the season and culminating in a 6-10 season, someone please tell me what coach in the NFL in his right mind would be even remotely interested in starting him ever again?
Mark Sanchez's accuracy is nowhere NEAR "relatively fine" (even when you may think "he knows what he's being asked to do" - when would he NOT know what he is being asked to do?) and it is borderline comical to suggest otherwise. In point of fact, he has easily been one of the most inaccurate quarterbacks in the league over his tenure as the Jets starting quarterback.
