Agreed. Games are won and lost up front. We need pass protection guys more than ever if we're going for an attacking passing game.
On draft day I hate early picks on OL, if for no other reason they seem like boring picks. When the season starts and they play well so many facets of the game are enhanced by having taken them. Sign me up for anybody off Alabama's OL...
We have to draft offense. Elite defense doesn't mean shit if you can't put points on the board. OL, RB,WR, TE, QB these are the critical spots that need to be addressed. If we draft a defender the first round we will know that Rex is the defacto GM.
Wrong, We could find a straight in the line up OLB in the first and the rest goes on O. Were going to lose a lot of our linebacking corps. Its one of many glaring needs on this top heavy team. We can use 1 on D, and 2-6 on O, we shouldn't be drafting an WR's as of yet. Get O-Line sorted, with a couple of picks. Pick up an RB....Alfred Morris went in the 6th. Even then, Id more more than happy to trade out the first round to gain more picks.
He still isn't good enough, he has proven that he is fine as a backup, but in order for any kind of offense to succeed we need to dominate at the lines, with that no matter who the QB is he will have plenty of time to throw, plenty of space to run the ball as well, adding to the fact that Moore is aging, the offensive line has to be our top priority
So long as at least 2 picks, preferably early go to the oline, I don't mind the idea of finally getting a real passrusher at OLB, we haven't had one since Abraham, that's a damn disgrace.
We definitely need to add a Guard and a Tackle in the draft. But I could see the line still looking a lot like this year. I would only use the #9 on what we consider to be a real stud tackle - otherwise use picks in rounds 2-4. The second round pick will be pretty high and should be able to get a decent lineman. I think we also need to get a RB in rounds 2-4, Powell, McKnight or Green are not even in the top half of backs in this league.
I agree with the OP; this team needs to draft OL in this year's draft, especially the earlier rounds.
Thats pretty easy to do when you already have a stud receiver, RB, and TE. Something the Jets have none at the moment.
Howard doesn't have to be replaced but he certainly hasn't locked the RT spot either. If we can improve at LG,RG and/or RT I'm all for it.
I would like to go OL. As most posters noted, competing without a QB next year will be tough. Why not build up the OL, then bring in a skill position draft the following year with QB/RB etc? If we have a solid OL it makes everyone life easier instead of hoping to get a Luck at QB or AP at RB
I would go pass rushing stud in the first round and either RB / WR in the second. This team needs some offensive playmakers. Playmakers can even mask average Oline talent as well. We need skill players who scare people. We havent had a stud RB since Curtis Martin in his early years and since Keyshawn at WR....
The line wasn't that bad this year. Half of you people are exaggerating it because the QB sucks so bad and the team has no weapons.
Name one team with a quality offensive line and no playmakers. You need more then just a quality offensive line.
they really only sucked in the one game they all decided to lay down and make their pal Little Marky look better by getting Greg McElroy sacked 11 times and nearly killed
