Woah. That's very good theory there. Even if he's caught lying, consequences would still be better than revealing that (if it was true). Personally I wouldn't care but there's a possibility it would effect acceptance for both of them within their social circles.
I don't buy his or ND's comments that say he was fooled. It seems like he was in on this. This is such a ridiculous story. The last comment from Negandhi is spot on Kevin Negandhi @KNegandhiESPN Te'o hoax: 1) how was this kept quiet before NC? 2) how did ND not know? 3) who in their right mind would do this besides George Costanza?

What a letdown. Being from Hawaii, this was my dude. I would have been happy to take him with the 9th round pick even if he didn't pan out, just to have a Jets' jersey with a Hawaii guy's name on it. Blah.
