This thread tells you all you need to know how none of us really know anything. "Jason Campbell" "Midget" "I'd rather have Foles.." Lol.
Yeah, I didn't realize that at first. Totally agree with you though. As much as I really like Luck and RG3, I might take RW3 over both of them. He has the running ability of RG3 and can stand in the pocket and zip it almost as well as Luck. Combine that with his intelligence, toughness, and clutch play, and you basically have the total package.. minus the prototypical size.
Wilson has had a good year, however it's still early in his career. These young quick qb"s all look good for a while, then they get hit a few times... Vick, Stewart, Newton, RG3. I think their small size in a big mans game catches up with them quickly.
See the thing is... Newton and RG3 can both throw it, RG3 more than Newton. Newton is also very big (6'5 245) so he can take the hits.
It won't catch up. Some people think that, but I don't see how. Brees is still alive and kicking with good stats. Sanchez is your prototypical QB, yet he's just sucking ass wind.
The only thing I've come away from this new style of QB is the most important qualities a QB can have are the ability to read defenses, throw accurately, have confidence, and be able to use your feet when the opportunity presents itself. Not being a pocket passer shouldn't preclude you if you have the qualities I listed above. If running backs can succeed with different styles why not QBs. Trying to force players into cookie cutter molds doesn't work.
Running backs can cone in and out of drives for a breather or miss a entire game without having a huge impact on the game, not so with qb's. Running qb's do not have the same protection once they take off. I like to watch these guys run wild, I just don't think long term they will be successful.
To the Russel Wilson detractors; What more do you expect out of a rookie quarterback? He had a ROTY caliber season in a year of unprecedented rookie performances, was one game shy of winning the division, won a playoff game and was 30 seconds away from leading his team to the NFC championship game? Before anyone compares his success to Sanchez in his first two years, look at their numbers. It's fair to say the Jets reached the title game those two seasons in spite of Sanchez, not because of him.
Out of the 3, I'd say RG3 has the greatest chance to have his career cut short. That's because he, his coach, and owner share the same reckless abandon. The other two QB have shown the sense to slide and avoid putting themselves at needless risk when they run.
well... since I was the only one on here besides the Seahawks fan that was pro Wilson (I said Wilson projects as good/great, elite if height was not a factor).... you guys who scoff at my Ricky Stanzi love, watch out!
You hear this kind of bullshit story aabout every good player in the league, "Some scrub on the Jets staff wanted this guy" we hear this all the time how bout we get the guy for once
Wasn't he fired and and "reasigned" ??? A kind way of saying your a scrub, LOL yea our scouting departments has done a wonderul job Hows that Sanchez rookie card looking???lol i can't belive your giving this guy credit for the scouting department. I din't even know we had a scouting department I just figured Woody Johnson looks at Madden overal ratings and goes from there
lol sorry to single you out. you seemed a bit too sure of your judgement on Wilson. I'm reminded daily by the boisterous sports media personalities whose unwavering proclamations are wrong more often than not. Predictions are just that... predictions. No one truly knows the future, not even me. So yes I know nothing but I have a lot of company in that regard.
way out on the limb there, snow, what with his knee apparently torn to ribbons already before the end of season one
