Dude...I ws just getting ready to start the Dion Jordan thread, & I see U are right on it. There is no question they must get Dion. He is top 5 player in draft & a offenses nightmare. He is pass-rusher Jets need, and they need to double down & draft another pass rusher as well. But they must get Jordan...almost at all cost....even if they have to move up. His stock is gonna soar as the draft approaches.
I'm reading 7these posts & I can't believe some of the comments. A guard or an elite pass-rusher.......wow!!!! Guys, I always say, let the tape do the talking. Watch video of the 2 guys {with sound off}...then let ur eye-balls do the talking. Makes things alot simplier....for me.:breakdance: http://www.google.com/search?source...l=hp...0.0.0.1.221379...........0.1bpQXN0G2LA
Dion jordan....wow This has to be Jets #1 pick. This guy is a beast. Here are some of his highlights. http://www.google.com/search?source...l=hp...0.0.0.1.221379...........0.1bpQXN0G2LA
A thread about a college player not in the nfl, in the Jets section, only containing a link to google. And youve only been here 8 years
While I agree with you guards aren't usually drafted high and their value is generally a lot lower than passrushers. But there are exceptions and Warmack could be one. You say let your "eyes do the talking"...you need to watch tape on Warmack he dominates and is the most elite guard to come out of College in a decade or more. All those Vernon Gholston fans loved him as the Jet's next great pass rusher. There is more risk drafting a DE/OLB, than a lot of other positions, hopiing they're the next Von Miller. Warmack is one of the closest "sure things" in this draft, but spending a top 10 pick on him doesn't warrrant the money invested in the position. The only passrushers I really want in the top 10 are Moore, Jones and Werner, I like Jordan but he's not a Top 5 prospect as you mentioned, just yet. Moore, Jones and Werner are better players. Right Now, I still believe the Jets are going to draft a Offensive player at #9 and OT Eric Fisher should be available, his stock is rising.
I would love Eric Fisher. I also wouldn't mind taking him round 1 and going guard round 2. These last 2 years have shown us how important O line has been to our success. We need some young blood on the line and some depth.
The only reason I said educate is because most people aren't as knowledgeable as you are when it comes to the draft. Most fans only see a few video snippets or watch a game here and there and are for the most part clueless when it comes to judging young talent that's yet to perform in the NFL. In other words, these people don't realize they're making stupid statements when it comes to the draft. I never said you weren't a fair person. You're just dealing with people who don't understand why their statements are stupid. The draft requires much more knowledge and insight than the normal Jets related conversations that you see in the main part of the forum. I know you get frustrated, but it's not going to change their minds if you come at them hard because they don't see enough of these young players to make an educated decision on why they would be good for our team. I see a lot of stupidity in the main forum, but I shake my head and move on. It's just not worth it. I'm trying to save you from getting too much agita.
I think the point trying to be made is that if you truly know very little about the player or are basing your information on something you saw on bleacher report or walterfootball, then please dont say it at all. Back up your opinion with strong statistics or analysis based on tape. It's really not difficult to type a players name in on youtube and watch game tape.(not highlights, highlights dont really prove too much about a players ability) I try to keep my posting to a minimum, if I truly feel I have legitimate input on a topic then i will say what I have to say. But just posting on the draft forum for the sake of posting on the forum is not what it's all about. Sit back, read the posts and gain knowledgeable insight from some truly intelligent people. And oh, seeing the phrase "draft this beast" is probably the most infuriating thing to see on this foum. IMO Barkevious Mingo is an undersized player that can shine brilliantly at times, but overall lacks the ability to play everydown and would be a situational passrusher. Just because he might have "a high ceiling" doesnt automatically translate to success at an NFL level. Right now, in 2013, the Jets do not need a potential great player, they need a definite playmaker who will step up immediately and produce. Our franchise has swung and missed on far too many players to take another that fits the same mold. He is also very inexperienced in the position and like I said about Anthony Barr, would benefit from another year in the college game. I'd be ecstatic to get a player like Mingo in the middle rounds, but not at #9.
Jordan was far from an elite passrusher in college... He was pretty good and has the potential to be an elite passrusher in the NFL. There's a big difference. Guys like Werner, Moore and Jones were elite passrushers in college. Not Jordan. Also Warmack is far from just "a guard". He's the best interior prospect in the last decade. Im not sure where you are getting these opinions from...
Buddy.....Dion Jordan is by far....the best pass-rusher/defensive player out of the Def. players u mentioned. Either u haven't watched the highlights of these players, or u don't know what to look for.
If u have 2 functioning eyeballs......looking is all u need 2 do....darn. We got some cluelesschaps on this site. Swearing they know...but are clueless. Take it from me....I know the most....
No doubt new blood needed on OL, but not with the pass-rushers available in 1st round. Draft is probally deep in OL.
I think it's quite the opposute in terms of later round availability. Unless you're willing to take an injured player, there are no quality 3-4 OLBs who can make an impact in the next 2 years after the first 15 picks in the 1st round. There will however be very good OG prospects through the end of Round 2. After Jarvis Jones and Damontre Moore go, you're left with Barkevious Mingo and Dion Jordan as 3-4 OLBs. Aside from Jones, Jordan may actually have the highest upside in the 3-4 scheme. He's used all over the formation at Oregon as a LB and DE, and would be a natural fit in Rex's defense from Day 1. He has to grow into his frame a little bit, as would Mingo, but his fluidity and athleticism is unparalleled in this draft for the position. I wouldn't be shocked at all if he has an Aldon Smith type of rise and is gone before our pick. Warmack should be a stud offensive guard, but there is no such thing as a surefire stud pick. DeCastro was supposed to be the best OG prospect ever and didn't impress anyone in Pittsburgh. He didn't even earn a stopping job, and getting hurt prevented him from being labeled a bust as a 1st round selection for the time being. Not saying he won't become a very good OG, but people in Pittsburgh were surprised by how undewhelmed they were with him. Since we have a high 2nd round pick, and for that matter 3rd round pick, we could take an OG like Barrett Jones in the 2nd or Larry Warford in the 3rd. Warford has the potential to be a bulldozer much like Warmarck for a much cheaper price. In the 3rd, maybe you're thinking we can get Chase Thomas to be an OLB? The Jordan/Warford combo is far superior imho than Warmack/Thomas. 1) Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon 2) DJ Fluker, OT, Alabama 3) Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky 4) Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina 5) best free safety available That's an instant upgrade first three rounds, but word is Fluker won't last to our 2nd round pick as a RT prospect because for these combine and pro days he's a wonder to behold. Fluker could also kick inside to OG, and we could have a long time duo of Warford and Fluker who would be like what the Saints had with Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks. I think D'Brick, Moore, Mangold, Warford, and Fluker would make one heck of an OL. Lattimore is basically a redshirt pick, and can come in with a new QB next year. Not too different from trading our 4th for a future 1st.
Hey....I made some comments, some in jest , but some for real & if u watch Dion Jordan.....he is extremely quick, motor never stops, holds the edge at OLB, chases down ball carriers, rushes he passer, drops back into coverage, has very good speed. Now u only have to visualize a player like this being meshed with his 10 other teammates. This player would instantly be the best player on the Jets defense. {John Abraham-revisited} & that ain't no bull-shit!!! Now this is all facts....Now if anybody can find a better defensive prospect than Dion Jordan, please let me know & I will look at tape on that player. Dion Jordan is in the same realm as J.P.P {Jason pierre Paul}...another player Jets should have moved up to draft ???
Dude....U almost bring a tear to my eye. I see Y ur name is "The G.M.". Dude u can see, whereas alot of these chaps here are color-blind. Dion"fuk'n Jordan is an unbelievable athlete. What these comments I'm reading are saying is that alot of people talk without truly evaluating. Dude...If the Jets were to get Dion Jordon, they would have the closest thing to Lawerce Taylor... this city has seen. Now what makes this pick truely xciting is if Jets do what I call the double down & draft OLB's with 2 of there 1st 3 picks.....maybe even 1st & 2nd round. Jets defense would be so spectacular. Maybe even trading next years #1 for a later round #1...like pick # 25-32. Jets need impact players. Jets need 2 OLB pass-rushers. That would create a terror effect on opponents offenses. I would also love to see Jets bring Aaron Maybin back. Jets need just 1 OL thru draft {another thru F.A.} & a NT. If u watch the Jets games, Pouha was the most ineffective NT out of the NT's on roster. Look at the tape. Pouha's best position is actually DE, not NT. He is very good at DE, because he could then use his strength & quickness, he consistently gets pushed back Q# yards as NT. Jets also need a RB. Jets can win with Sanchez as QB.:jets: Jets have to better evaluate the players talents. Like CB #20 Kyle Wilson...he is better suited as F.S. I've mentioned this quite a few times. Kyle likes to hit, but he isn't strong at backpeddling, which all good CB's are. He is more effective with the play coming towards him....like a centerfielder. I bet he makes alot of plays on the ball as a F.S., but as a CB....he's gonna keep gettn toasted. 49er Safety...Dashon Golshon was a college CB, wasn't very effective as a CB at the pro level, now we see what he does a a Safety...Wake up Jets...Rex???
OK...what do think of RT Austin Howard....is there a place for him this season....in ur eyes? I thought he did ok, everyone gets beat sometimes in the NFL
