Going into the playoffs I said it was going to be the 9ers and Patriots...looking accurate so far...but today blows.

The only 2 teams left I would like to see win it all, both losing, and now I have to go into work.

not the same Packers this year because the OL hasn't held up (he's been under a lot of pressure in several games this season) and the defense has been shaky.

Imagine if Kaepernick gets a ring? The perception will be so odd because he still hasnt started 10 games I think?

Defense looks terrible now and I feel like the OL has been poor the last two years. But all it takes is QB play to win in this league

Like Big Ben kinda. What he does after is important.

I dont see the experts picking the Packers so quickly anymore, I think the love affair with them is dying as we speak.

Yeah that's what happens when your OL and defense doesn't live up to expecations.

Well Ben was in his 2nd year. Its just odd because in todays NFL, the QB gets alot of praise when they win the Super Bowl, we saw it with Eli, Rodgers, Brees, Ben, etc. The whole offseason everyone sucks their dicks basically,

2 great building blocks for any franchise, Lewis and Peyton.

It depends. Eli and Big Ben were considered flukey the first time around. Eli started getting a ton of credit this year and he missed the playoffs. Big Ben has been iffy with the off field stuff.

QBs get way too much credit and blame in the league. If you go back through super bowls, some of the biggest players required someone on the other end or non QB related plays

Well the last 4 years the QB has been praised, people all hop on them and claim they are the best. I agree to, a QB gets to much credit and blame. Hell just look back to last year, that Giants D carried them and the special teams punched the Super Bowl ticket, not Eli.

Here's the thing, you are going polar opposite which isn't true eithe.r Eli made some big plays and did some great things, like protecting the ball. Like TEAMS, they all helped each other out and at least 2/3 showed up with GREAT games and no 1/3 showed up with a bad game.

Like I say this all the time, but is it coincidence that once Bill lost control of the NE great defense, even though Brady has gotten 100x better, he hasn't gotten another SB win? Is it a coincidence when teams start getting QB reliant like the Colts under Peyton, they start struggling int he postseason (see NE, GB, NO, etc). Is it a coicidence teams limited by their QB haven't been able to overcome it (Flacco, Sanchez, Smith). It's all intertwined but nobody wants to believe that because it doesn't fit in the narrative. (FYI narrative is my new favorite word to describe this. Been used in a lot of basketball writings I read recently, so I'm picking up on it. )

I could go on and on, but it isn't a coincidence that the Patriots are trying to establish a run game even though Brady is supremely talented QB. They aren't doing it for fun, they're doing it because they realized you need to remain somewhat balanced.

I just hate the people who think you need a god tier qb to win. Wake up call to those people, your 2 pretty boys Rodgers and Manning just got outed. Having an "elite" qb doesnt guarentee anything, its all about getting it done at the right time.

No it doesn't and Brady, Eli, Big Ben were not "elite" when they won their first SB. Rodgers wasn't considered elite, but he was conisdered much more up and coming than the other 3. Having an elite QB makes it easier to make the playoffs, but you still need a team to win. You saw that with the Broncos. A half decent defense wins them that game. You saw it with NE last year in the SB. You saw it with Brees and Rodgers last year too. Those are the top 4 QBs in the league, and they all lost because their teams became unbalanced too much.

Having an elite QB helps tremendously though as you continuously win divsions, not wild cards

Meh I hope Schaub and Wilson win tomorrow just to kill this whole "elite QB" Theory that says you cant win without one. All fracnessa has been preaching is you need a Rodgers, Eli, Peyton, Brees to win.....so untrue

Whitner gets into a scuffle, then, next play, makes an obvious late hit against James Jones on an incomplete pass, tackling at his knees. Dirty play, no-call.

Eli is too inconsistent to be elite. He can play at an elite level, but not consistently.

Isn't Rodgers now 5-3 in the playoffs and Eli is 8-3 or something. I think we all agree Rodgers>Eli. Shows how silly W-L on QBs is. QBs contribute to wins and losses and elite QBs can heavily contribute to wins in the regular season. For some reason, this doesn't carry over to the playoffs as you see their play drop a lot. Probably because of the better competition.
