Hardline Approach You tell them you will take over somebody else's 100 Level seats but you will not pay the PSL or the Preseasons. And Parking may be negotiable if they're willing to talk about the first part. Then the next level is, you tell them you want these tickets in your name forever and a guarantee of no preseasons or PSLs for life. Just the option of buying 8 games for life. You're essentially forcing the Jets back to 1988 or so, when we didn't have PSLs and didn't have to buy 10 games, only 8, and the Preseasons were optional. You tell them maybe you'll take the Preseasons at $20 per game if they want you to buy them. They can either do that or have the 4 seats in 100 Level vacant with no income whatsoever and still chasing the original fucking moron for his PSL balance. They get no parking, no preseasons and no income fromthe 4 seats. Your offer becomes fairly attractive at that point.
Hardball Maybe I ratchet up my phone call a bit. Something like this: "Since I used to have Mezz seats under cover in the old stadium and I obvioulsy lost them in the move, I'd like you to consider reinstating me into the 200 Level again and making me whole. Essentially, I want what I used to have. I will pay you face for the 200-Level regular 8 games only, with no requirement for Preseasons, and I want those seats permanently in my account to do whatever I want with them, including pass them on just like I used to be able to do. I don't want any part of a PSL and won't pay for one. I am willing to pay a reasonable fee for parking, say, $15 for Yellow. You have my number. Please call me if you want to talk about this."
This I like  But be prepared 227 and others they will call that # to " talk " then they will throw every line of crap at you,,,my advice stay firm do not budge do not negotiate ! Give them a take it or leave it,,,,in the end no matter what u decide, you will be better off ,,,I luv cherry picking
I am putting down the hammer on Woody and Co. Once they pick the current assistant GM Cohen as our new GM, which tells me Rex has won the tug of war, and Sanchez stays our QB, I might not even try to negotiate. I might join CBG in cherry picking. Dark days ahead man, Tuesday's press conference was like watching an episode of the Three Stooges. It really opened my eyes. OMG, these are our leaders???
I have not listened to TANK Francessa in a year or so but Westoff is on in 15 minutes and I cant wait to hear more of what he says. in keeping with the thread,,,psls ? OYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
This is going to be some show today. You know Fatty is gonna bait Westy like crazy.... anything to get him to say something negative, and then Fatso can talk about it all next week... "Westhoff said dis and Westhoff said dat..."
Westhoff is trying to get a job in the TV business so he's being an a-hole for his own well being. He has no right saying anything when his own special teams was the worst I have ever seen in a Jet team. He should have retired 2 years ago. Just like LT, using the Jets to get a job. Sorry, you lost me on this one.
No, I disagree. Westhoff handled it in a very classy way... and honestly. And the man is undoubtedly the best STs coach this team has ever had. A few bad years doesn't make his career. I'm sorry to see him go. I think RR is going to miss him on the field helping him make decisions. He was always in Rex's ear... now that's gone. We lost something valuable when he left.
My prior post was based on what he said yesterday on the Miami show and before today's show. I listened to him on Kay/Lagreca and he was great. Honest, but did not do an LT and slam the Jets for his own good. I always loved his honesty so let me be, our ST's sucked this year and he never found us a punter in his whole Jet career. Maybe the new guy will be the next Westhoff. I will miss him, very cool guy.
Honestly, the way I feel... I think this Jets coaching team is lost without Mike Westhoff. I think we lost something very, very valuable. Not only on STs, but in every phase. He's been around so long. Rex is a complete mess on the field on Game Day. I am quite sure that he would have made MUCH worse decisions W/O Westhoff at his side.... just my general observation from the sidelines, mind you. Rex Ryan - Mike Westhoff on the field = Clusterfuck. Look out below.
Westhoff told Kay the RR was a good game day coach... I think he was being kind to say the least. Who knows how much the head coach leaned on the wise old man? Other then Sutton, Westhoff was the only veteran coach on the team. Now both are gone, and it seems to me that Rex has been given the keys to the castle. I know we are going hire our current assistant GM, its a typical Jet move, don't shake things up. The old rising star crap, its got Woody written all over it. Instead of taking power away from Rex, that SOB is going to have even more influence in roster decisions.
This is what I'm afraid of. Honestly, I don't think RR can handle the job now. I think he's a great Def Coach. The whole enchilada? Without Westhoff and Sutton by his side? Hmmm....
My plan for tickets is going to be done in phases. The first phase will be telling the Jets I have been a STH since 1981 I earned the right to sit in row 3 or 4 within sections 340-337 or 312-315 . No mention of pre-season or parking. Let them find me the seats first and then blast them with my ultimatum. I will make the first call in March or when we get the first notification of renewal. Maybe there will be some type of reduction by Woody that will cause me to do it all at once. Your move Woody.
People think I'm crazy but I really think many of the upper level seats will see some type of price reduction. Woody acknowledged last week fans have complained about difficulty re-selling tickets and ticket prices. I could be wrong but I see some type of reduction. Everyone is talking about $15 parking. Last year if you paid your bill you got it for $12.50 per game. I'd bet that is offered again, with the 50% off food vouchers, and either no preseasons or $10-$15 reduction in ticket prices in the $95-$125 ticket areas. I could be totally wrong but just my gut feeling about what happens this year.
You should have heeded my posts before the 2012 season began & then U would not be so "shocked" as U say U R concerning the situation concerning STHers for the 2013 season. Since I see U as a pretty smart guy I have hope that some day you will tear off those NYJ blinders U wear & finally see the forest from the trees
Thanks & yes I agree with U but I am one of those caught in the "missing files" situation that the NYJs alleged occurred with all the STHers from 65 to 77. So it is what it is & I have to make my decisions based on what I have not what shoulda been which is the reason that I will disappear from the STH roster. May be if Woody would have been fairer to me then yes your thinking that seats nearer the the 50 would still be rentable @ face would have come into play. As I have said many times already the advent of HDTV & the DTV season tix has changed the patterns of many STHers. In fact I guess that I am no more then 1 of 25 or so of STHers in this forum
To what $1.00 per seat per game + no parking & no xhibition games + 2 free beers & 2 free hot dogs? Any thing more is not worth trekking to games when you can seat in your man cave & watch it on HDTV
i paid for 5 out of 6 this year at $105 a pop.maybe i got back 8 tickets TOTAL at face.the rest.... was just hey please come hang out with me...
This is the problem. And I think Champ meant to say "So what" instead of "To what" in his opening line. And it's a valid point if so. WTF can Woody offer us now that makes schlepping to the stadium so fucking necessary that is warrants paying full face + full parking fees for 10 games for 8 REAL games that we can all watch on High Def TV sets in the comfort of our own living rooms? Okay, there's all the fun and such in the parking lot, but thousands of dollars worth? I'm amazed at my own stupidity for the past 30 years.
What they SHOULD do is keep the UL tickets the way they are and help out those of us who have PSL's by reducing our ticket prices and or parking prices, helping to keep us from defaulting and the organization possibly getting in a P.R. mess.
