He's a director of college scouting for a team that hasn't nailed a pick outside the first round in... god only knows when.

yup, it's all over twitter now. Caldwell to Jags is a done deal T0heir hammering out a contract as we speak. This is what happens when you drag your feet.

i don't know how hard the Jets pursued him..

BUT if he actually chose Jax with the likely Tebow arrival, it means something really stinks with Woody's approach.

I'm gettin real close to joining in on the panic..

Gamble will iron out a deal with San Diego. Bank on it. Anyone worth a damn isn't going to willingly hook his cart to Woody Johnsons idiot train when they have other options.

My first pick was always Gamble. Idk how 'true' these reports are about his 2nd interview today. If the cap is his only problem, there are ways around this aka hiring someone to help him navigate the cap.

This does sting a bit, cause Caldwell would have also been an excellent hire.

As long as it's outside, we'll be fine. Besides, there may be other candidates we have no idea about.

what makes you think that Rex Ryan would have more power than the future GM?

Pretty simple. The future GM is signing on knowing he can't fire Rex Ryan.

Of everyone left, I give my vote to Ross. Why would Gamble want to come here when it's been leaked that the Jets felt he was less than impressive in his interview!? Like them or not, you have to be impressed with how the Giants have drafted and acquired talent over the past several years. Apparently, Ross was an intergral part of that process and I would be interested to see if he could duplicate some of that success with the Jets.

Certainly wouldn't have been my first choice, but under the currenct circumstances, I think it's a gamble worth taking!

Gonna merge this with the other Caldwell thread. Don't think we need multiple threads on the same GM candidate who isn't even coming.

They should have had a GM in place before today. If they don't get Gamble then it will be slim pickings. Yet Woody and Rex are patting each other on the back saying it's time for a fresh start.

I really don't want Cohen or Ross. Who have the Giants got in drafts other than JPP? David Wilson might turn out to be good, but who else? Prince Amukamora? Anyone outside of the first? Rather have Cohen TBH.

Something tells me that whoever leaked that nonsense out will not have a job this time next week. That's absolutely unprofessional. Same goes for that blogger who said Gamble was our tops but we were only interviewing Ross because of the 'Rooney Rule'. That's absolutely stupid and detrimental.

    For just the first year.

The coach doesn't have more power than the GM; they have different types of powers. The GM picks the players, the coach picks the coordinators. I see nothing wrong with that approach.
