Some of you guys really need some tissues to wipe with. I'm 100% convinced you'd be whining no matter what happened at that press conference.
Winning is the ultimate solution, yes. Not giving vultures anything to nibble on will be helpful as well though.
The thing to remember about the Jets of 2008 to 2010 was that they were a free agent and trade-inspired production. If the front office had been good at finding real talent in the draft things would have gone differently if we needed a transition in 2012. You want to know the likely reason why Woody fired Tannenbaum and kept Rex? Because Woody signed all the checks from 2008 to 2012 and that last check to Sanchez was a check too far. When Woody looked at the roster he didn't see a great talented roster despite all the checks he had signed. Whether you believe Rex was the driver on most of the signings or not he wasn't the guy who negotiated the deals and signed off on them.
you cannot ignore drafts prior to 2008-10 that helped build those teams. Our '09-'10 teams were built through the draft w/ a sprinkling of FA/trades. we didn't have a crazy amount of FAs on those teams.
I was happy with the press conference. I am glad to hear Rex at least understands the Jets need more of an attacking offense instead of one they try to hide. It was interesting that he mentioned the pistol.
The fans that want Rex gone are all disappointed that the owner actually backed him and likes him after that nothing else matters. The Jets offense struggled last season they said they are going to fix it and compete. Not throw in the towel and play for a draft pick that is a good organization. I think people wanted to hear well we are resigned to the fact we suck so we are going to get rid of Sanchez not sign anybody let REX fail then hire a new coach.
The way I look at it now is that the people who are happy Rex is staying are happy with the Woody Johnson clown show. Now I equate the Rex lovers with Woody Johnson. Clueless.
Should be an interesting off season for the Jets! Hopefully they select the right GM!!!!! http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8825112/rex-ryan-new-york-jets-says-2013-new-beginning
I equate people that buy into the media hype of the clown show and not look at the facts are mindless drones.
if you need to know the details of the Jets strategy go work for the Jets in a management position. otherwise all you are deserving of is basic media answers. so either go work for the jets or shut the fuck up.
2009 starting roster - most games started WR - Braylon Edwards (trade) LT - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (draft) LG - Alan Faneca (free agent) C - Nick Mangold (draft/trade) RG - Brandon Moore (UDFA) RT - Damien Woody (free agent) TE - Dustin Keller (draft/trade) QB - Mark Sanchez (draft/trade) RB - Thomas Jones (trade) FB - Tony Richardson (free agent) WR - Jerrico Cotchery (draft) RCB - Darrelle Revis (draft/trade) ROLB - Bryan Thomas (draft) RE - Marques Douglas (free agent) FS - Kerry Rhodes (draft) RILB - David Harris (draft/trade) NT - Sione Pouha (draft) LILB - Bart Scott (free agent) SS - Jim Leonhard (free agent) LE - Shaun Ellis (draft) LOLB - Calvin Pace (free agent) LCB - Lito Sheppard (trade) Ok, so there were 7 free agents starting for the Jets in 2009, not counting Brandon Moore who was a UDFA, and there were 8 people who had a trade involved in their acquisition by the Jets not counting Shaun Ellis whose draft pick was traded for in 2000. That my friend is a trade and free agent inspired production. Only 4 starters for the 2009 Jets were players drafted in their original draft position by the Jets: Sione Pouha (who played because Kris Jenkins a trade gone bad was injured), Kerry Rhodes, Jerrico Cotchery and Bryan Thomas.
I haven't seen the PC yet, but is it possible that Rex was being more general than that pistol comment may have seemed? What I'm getting at is I wonder if he's just finally come to terms with the fact that the NFL has changed and his offense needs to be more modern - maybe using the pistol, for example.
I can't believe people are whining about the press conference. What the fuck were they supposed to say. Seriously
