http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/07/bucs-have-no-plans-to-extend-josh-freemans-contract/ Speculation is he might be a trade candidate. Depending on the front office and coaching moves, I wonder if the Jets might have a 2009 draft do-over and look to get involved.
No.....he's a flawed QB and isn't much better than Sanchez and he had actually had weapons to go with this time.
Would love it. Should've been the Jets pick in 2009 to begin with. Big,strong, can make every throw & is a leader of men. Is he elite? Absolutely not. But he can be a franchise QB & w/ Rex's D can be a winner in the big apple. I'd offer a 3rd rounder.Of even consider a blockbuster deal sending 1 of our 2 starting CBs(Tampa needs DB help) & a pick for Freeman & a pick back.
So, Cromartie or Revis for FREEMAN and a pick? No thanks. I am ok with keeping them, keeping our picks, and playing Sanchez.
He ain't a leader but he's better than the QBs available in this draft so TB is smart to do this. Freeman shows zero consistency and poise at times...he's a QB that when things go right, they go right...but when things go wrong, he has no solution to anything and will keep compounding the problem. He won't fit as a Jet. They will have an awful year and be in play for Bridgewater/Manziel. I get what ownership is doing here....Schiano may not like it though, he could be out after year 2.
i would hate to give a draft pick up for someone that has the ceiling of a game manager.definitely wouldnt give a 3rd. 4th would be the highest and that would be shaky. i'd rather waste cap space on a jag than waste cap space and a pick on a jag. sign someone from the campbell, moore tier.
Wait for him to be released. If he's traded then we are better off. No to picks or our CBs for freeman.
He's not going to be the future, is it worth it to trade and then give him QB money? I don't like him as a leader or being able to handle the NY media. I also think he is flawed as a QB and we don't have the tools around him to bring the best out of him. He did have a much better year than Sanchez, but once you include the whole league, we would only be getting marginally better at QB position in my eyes
Jesus fucking christ...can't wait to see a new "what about this QB" thread another thousand fucking times this offseason
I liked the idea of Freeman's fit with the Jets a while back. But he probably won't be worth what the Jets would get him for and it's probably not the right situation anymore.
That's an amazing post. Sanchez has been beaten like a rented mule over the last 15 months and that probably more than anything else is why he's headed out of town.
Definitely can't give up two 1st rounders for Freeman, as the article suggests, but this is something to keep an eye on. When looking at Freeman you gotta keep in mind that his rookie year and 2011 were hampered by organizational chaos and a lack of talent around him. He had a fantastic year in 2010, and was very good this year except for two late stinkers against NO and STL (26 TD and 9 INT in the other 14 games). I mean, hey, if we had a QB who only lost TWO games for us this year, we might have been a playoff team.
That's an amazing post, although you could have used your brain instead of a lump of dried dog poop when formulating your nickname for Sanchez.
