If its a competition based on drills and playing catch shirtless, Sanchez will win. If it involves evaluating in game ability and intangibles, even a Matt Moore is a million times better than Sanchez. It's not even close. He is more dynamic, turns the ball over less, better leader. Look at how he handled being put behind TAnn in Miami.
Alex Smith isn't. Harsh reality will set in. I hope Matt Moore can beat him in a competition but I wouldn't be certain of it since you know it would be one JAG QB vs another
Look at Sanchez's career QBRs. He is literally the worst tenured starting QB in the league. Anyone is better. Turns the ball over while running a conservative, ball control offense-the worst of both worlds.
Actually - in 2010 and 2011 they were not a conservative offense. If you are going to argue, use facts? They were 17th in pass attempts in 2011 and 18th in 2010. In 2010 they passed more than the Patriots.
And how many yards did Sanchez throw for compared to Brady? Bubble screens and 2 yard slants are Sanchez's specialty. This offense is Stone Age football and its painful that some of you cannot see it. In 2011, Sanchez threw a boatload of one yard Tds to Plax, resulting in the only respectable td total of his career. This was a SB team in 2009 and 2010 and this clown is literally the only thing that held us back. All we needed was an average signal caller who could stretch the field a bit and instead we get Mark game manager Sanchez. You can't run for 250 yards every game.
He sucks at them but the Jets will throw as many passes within 5 yds of the line of scrimmage as anyone. Some will undoubtedly end up in the arms of a nose tackle. Please explain to me how Mark Sanchez "led" the Jets to the AFCG while throwing for 2400 yds in a full season.
It's going to be a very, very long off-season for people with a grasp on objective reality. Delusional Sanchez apologists like raortega and nyjunc couldn't even admit that Sanchez was utter dog shit during the time when he was displaying that he was utter dog shit. As the days pass, the rose colored glasses of Sanchez fan boys will grow darker and darker and their arguments more absurd as they seek to erase his disgraceful performance from their minds and replace it with their fantasies. I would suggest to the moderators that they add a new filter that lets people block any post with one of the following phrases: 1) Mark led the team to two AFCG's! 2) It wasn't his fault, he didn't have the weapons 3) It wasn't his fault, the receivers just ran the wrong routes 4) It wasn't his fault, he didn't have enough time in the pocket 5) It wasn't his fault, it was bad play calling Fortunately, this situation leaves us a great way to judge the new GM. If the new GM goes past June 1st with Sanchez on the roster, he is dog shit, and his career at the NY Jets will be one of losing and embarrassment. Any GM worth having will move heaven and earth to make sure that the turnover machine named Mark Sanchez will not be on the Jets roster after June 1st, no matter what the cap hit.
The bold is stupid. Why worsen the team salary wise just to move Sanchez and moving Sanchez will require giving draft picks or players up too? Just keep him next year and let him be a backup. I don't understand why it's worth it too lose money and resources just to get Sanchez off this team? You like our team to have less money to spend and Sanchez to be gone than Sanchez to be here and our team to have more money to spend? Doesn't make sense to me.
in order to be out from under it next year. take a beating for a year, its going to be ugly anyway so take that beating next year and have something to work with the following year without the dead money. it would be tough to bite, especially with the superbowl in the frozen meadowlands next year but i could see why some would call for it.
Now that the season is over, I've gotta admit I'm changing my attitude a little bit towards Sanchez. Before I wanted him off the team no matter what. However, now I'm looking at the FA quarterbacks & lack of QB in the draft, and it is pretty depressing. Not saying Sanchez should be guaranteed starter next year & no damn way should he get a contract extension. But I'd like to see him compete for the starting position in an open QB competition with whomever the Jets can bring in. Don't have any loyalty to Sanchez. However, the QB options out there looks pretty bad and I don't wanna give up any picks. I've read articles stating that next years draft will have some decent QB talent in it. Let's use this year's picks to close as many holes on this roster as possible. If the new GM can hit on some draft picks this upcoming draft, then Jets can be more risky in the draft afterwards (which is supposed to have more/better QB prospects). With Sanchez gone, Jets will be able to draft somebody & have the cash to sign a vet to hold down the spot until rookie is ready.
From everything I read, we can get by a lot cheaper by getting rid of Sanchez after this upcoming 2013 season.
Probably the way to go is a June 1st cut. He'll be $12.7 million on the 2013 cap and $4.45 million on 2014. It's really painful to do but ignoring the pain doesn't make it go away. If the Jets keep Sanchez next year he's $12.853 million on the cap and $4.8 million in 2014.
i know it would cost like 17 mill to cut him before june 1, but that would free up the 4.8 million from next years cap?
It's a bit more complicated than I made it look above since he has a $500,000 workout bonus that would have to be paid if the Jets waited until June 1st. I think basically it is very painful to cut him either way but the one year solution may just be un-doable because the Jets can't find the $17.15 million space to cut him loose early.
Honestly he doesn't deserve to even compete for the job. I would approach Sanchez like this, I would have him be inactive for the entire season, bring in a vet like Moore, Vick, Smith etc, let McElroy compete with the vet for the starting job and get a vet to be the 3rd string QB.
It's really tough to do this with Sanchez though because the elephant in the room is that he got almost no support last season and whatever he's saying publicly and the Jets are saying publicly isn't going to change the fact that he thinks he played with special-teamers and practice squad players as most of his receiving options last year. The best move is to find a way not to have the conversation with him and that probably involves cutting him.
Do you think it is possible to restructure Sanchez and then trade him ? I am not sure if you can get him to do this but if it is doable things would look alot better:up:
It's well known that Moore is a bad practice player. So if you do get him don't be suprised if he is beat out by Sanchez. Plus Sanchez has Rex covering his back...I believe Sanchez will be the Jets started in 2013.
