http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/red-zone-scoring-pct Man....we went from 65% to 49%.....last year we were right there with the Pats and Packers. What a disaster. I wanted them to bring back Burress just for the RZ offense. Another fiasco I knew would happen in the offseason. And to think they got Tebow for the RZ !!!!
Sanchez had a chemistry with Plax in the end zone. For that alone I felt they should have brought him back.
The jump happened with Tom Moore here for 1 year and Plax. In 2009 we were #17 at 50.94% In 2010 we were #28 at 44.26% In 2011 we were #2 at 65.38% In 2012 we were #25 at 48.94%
Calling two consecutive passing plays on 2nd and goal at the 3 yard line is a big part of the problem.
I see that you guys forgot about the whole Tom Moore thing, yeah you know the guy they brought in to help with the red zone offense
I still don't believe that Plax impacted us that much last year. He had 8 touchdowns, 3 in one game. So that's 5 touchdowns in 15 games. Yeah, not too impressive. Hill would of had that this year with decent QB play.
When you go from a receiving core of Holmes, Burress, Keller, Kerley, and LT/Greene to Kerley as your #1 WR, Clyde Gates, Chaz Schilens, Jeff Cumberland, and Bilal Powell/Greene, you're going to have a shitty offense unless your QB is Peyton Manning (Oops!).
I'd say it was more the personnel with some of Moore. Our redzone threats in the past few years were, Edwards, Plaxico, and Keller. For most of the year we didn't have any of them.
Do people understand our main weapon in the pass game was Jeremy kerley? our 2nd option was Chaz Schilens. we had no healthy weapons.
You're talking to the same people who think we can easily demote Rex Ryan to Defensive Coordinator. It's becoming useless to discuss football with a lot of these people.
This injury bug went all the way back to day 1 of training camp too. Hard to have a good offense when you are trying to implement a new system w/ all kinds of injuries around you. The media & many of this fan base fail to mention this aspect however. Not saying injuries should be the be all end all excuse..but it certainly played a huge part in the issues.
lol at the credit being given to Tom Moore. Yet folks blamed schotty for any negative that happened last season. the bottomline is that Plaxico is a veteran receiver that knew how to go up and make plays in the red zone. that helped Sanchez a lot.
