Well, it really IS as simple as not turning it over. What you're doing is comparing Sanchez, a 4th year QB, to a rookie who never started a game and has about 20 minutes of NFL experience. Is that how you want to think of Sanchez? That a rookie came in and lost too? The 'vaunted' Jets defense had trouble with teams that have a decent QB for the entire year. The Chargers fall into that category. We've scored for the most part 10-17 points all season long and that wasn't going to get it done against teams that can put up 20+, of which the Chargers are one. The Jets have followed, with the exception of Tennessee, a very strict pattern all season long. Turnovers were the ONLY reason they didn't beat Tennessee last week. To try and vindicate Sanchez based on yesterday makes you look a lot less knowledgeable than you claim to be. Yet you're the one who knocks the knowledge of others. Merry Christmas kid, you're a diehard and I like that about you. But you got a major blindspot when it comes to Sanchez.
No one never claimed there weren't other issues with the team. but THE biggest issue was at QB. I find it funny that we couldn't judge Sanchez based on his first, second or third seasons, but one game from McElroy is all we need to to judge McElroy on, you guys are funny.
That's just not true, no QB would have success w/ the healthy weapons we had this year. I didn't judge McElroy, didn't say one bad word about him. I'm poiting out he doesn't have a chance this year just like mark didn't but please keep making things up.
Can this thread be locked up until the position battle at quarterback starts next year? Please, it's the same shit over and over again.
You said "what Sanchez had to deal with this year" First of all when did Sanchez ever been sacked 11 times in one game? While the weapons weren't that great these guys at least made plays and not to mention the Jets still had a chance to win a few games with those so called "bad offensive weapons" if we had better QB play we would have 9 or 10 wins by now.
You're comparing Sanchez in his 4th year who had all pre-season to practice with the first team and Mcelroy, who was mostly inactive and making his 1st NFL start. So lets compare them. Here are Mcelroy stats in his first NFL start and the 1/2 game he rescued vs Arizona. 19/31 (61.3%) with 1 td 1 int and 1 fumble with a qbr of 45.2 Here are Sanchez's 2012 stats 229/418 (54.8%) with 13 td 17 int and 12 fumbles with a qbr of 25 Then when you consider the added dimension that Mcelroy ran for 30 yards and 2 first downs in his first 1.5 games and Sanchez rushed for 29 yards ALL SEASON. As beaten as he got getting sacked 11 times, he still has better stats then Sanchez and brings more to the table. Could anyone actually suggest that if Mcelroy got 4 years to play every game, that at the end of that four years he would be as embarrassingly bad as Sanchez? I'm not suggesting at all that the Jets have found their starter for certain next year or that Mcelroy will ever even develop into a decent starting QB, but he is not the worst QB in the NFL - it's Sanchez by a mile. That being said, I do think Mcelroy should get a chance to compete for the starting job against whoever else the Jets bring in for the job.
You keep naming these names, but in reality you are naming 4th, 5th and 3rd string players respectively. Cool. Kerley, Hill, Edwards, Holmes, Schillens, Keller, Cumberland (although some are hurt) are all above them on the depth chart. Rueland is a blocking TE, he has 10 receptions. Gilliard was on the team for like 3 weeks. Gates is the only one that has seen significant action in the passing game, yet has only caught 16 passes. You just keep naming a 4th string WR, a bench player and a blocking TE. Donald Driver, Jarrett Boykin, DJ Williams. (Packers) or Mathew Slater, Kamar Aiken, Daniel Fells. (Patriots) Im not saying that our receiving core is good, because its not, but just stop naming players thinking you are making a point. Megatron could go out there and Sanchez would still have a hard time completing passes simply because he can not deliver an accurate ball on time- never in stride. His footwork, ability to read a defense, arm strength, pocket presence, accuracy ect has all decreased tremendously since 2010. That has nothing to do with who he's throwing to.
Speaking in absolutes is trouble - since, you know, he has done it before. Perhaps saying the past two years Sanchez has had trouble, so on and so forth would be better.
Okay fair enough, I figured that goes without saying... Of course occasionally he'll deliver a ball in stride, but most definitely not up to NFL standards and not often.
Damn ppl still crying lol. Oline is not that good, wr position has no depth, rb s are inconsistent and qb is the scapegoat. Also Sanchez never took eleven sacks, not bcuz the oline protects him so well but bcuz he forces throws into coverage hence the to's. Gmac is new and indecisive but looks like a game manager at best.
mark sanchez was the number 2 in not top plays for the year of 2012... and i was kinda disappointed he didnt get the number 1 spot.
this is it to a T. The Sanchez defense at this point is absolutely laughable and without any merit to speak of.
so give Sanchez talent watch him still not produce at a top level that is expected for a top 5 pick, and then what will you say? Sanchez has been handed every excuse in the book. When does it stop? The TENN game is a perfect example. Throwing into triple coverage, overthrowing open players, making horrible reads and forcing throws, pump faking to his intended target. What does that have to do with his WR's?

Azhar apparently didnt watch that game....Anyone watched that game would be a complete idiot to keep defending that performance and giving him little to no blame.
