Besides the fact that he's completely ignoring the existence of the salary cap. I mean Jennings, usi, Wallace and mjd or Chris Johnson. Sheesh
wrong... all the moves would work except getting both Wallace and Jennings... but i'd take 1 of the 2 if we cant fit them under the cap
dont get me wrong we would need to release a bunch of dead (tebow,Holmes,Scott(replaced by Teo)) weight but it's possible
And you need football watching skills. Sanchez didn't drop the ball in NE that would have won that game. Clyde gates, Mardy Gilyard,Ruehland...and you're blaming the QB? Really?
2nd-10, NYJ40 7:28 M. Sanchez sacked by R. Ninkovich and J. Cunningham. M. Sanchez fumbled. R. Ninkovich recovered fumble Yup, I'm blaming Sanchez.
I don't know how much we'd have to give up but you are right additional compensation would be needed. These trade up and get this player in the draft and sign this big name free agent is how we got into the mess we are in now. Besides we don't have the $ to sign big FA. Sure it would be great to get everything you want for Christmas but this list isn't realistic. Santa says so.
No they don't, ignoring that your trades and draft picks can't both happen since both trades would require high level picks. Currently we have 141.6M toward next year's cap. Obvious cuts : Smith, Pace, Scott and Smith drop us to 111. You added Tebow and Holmes which gets us to 109. Sanchez for Flynn, actually raises us to 111 (we pay Sanchez's remaining bonus plus Flynn's base). Assuming you could trade for cj2k his base is 10M in 2013. So that puts you at 121. (that's it, you're full up, you have 4-9 M to sign a ton of players plus the rookies.) Obviously there is no money left for even one of Wallace or Jennings nevermind both. Osi same thing. Of course we also are trading up for Teo. All of those trades would require 1st or 2nd round picks, they are a fantasy. Edit- also both the Sanchez/Flynn and CJ2k trades would have to have some serious draft picks to be worth it since both deals involve the other team taking a huge cap hit on the accelerated bonuses.
So he can tell him in person he came out too early and make Mark his 3rd string QB just rub it in. Of course Sanchez might counter by showing Pete his bank account and the guaranteed contract the Jets signed him to. Then they'd have a good laugh at the Jets expense. So yeah I don't think Mark is going to Seattle either.
Glad someone has some sense. With the exception of the 94 49ers and 95 cowboys (both teams who fell off hard due to salary cap hell) I can't think of a team that won the Super Bowl through huge free agent signings.
+2 Forget the Pats, look at ALL the other successful teams in the AFC. Drafting, developing, smart moves, and not overpaying. somebody needs to put tis up on a billboard somewhere in Times Square if that's what it will take.
Do some of our less knowledgeable posters now understand what Sanchez was dealing w/? We have so many more issues than QB, when healthy we have some good weapon especially assuming Braylon is back b/c he has looked ok since his return but w/ the way our weapons are beat up no QB stands a chance. People thought it was as simple as not turning it over but there's more to it than that.
