Norv Turner the offensive coordinator and Norv Turner the head coach are completely different. He has a proven track record as an offensive coordinator wherever hes gone as opposed to be an average head coach at best
If the Jets keep him around on the bench he'll collect his big money and wait it out. If they release him he gets his money AND can pick from whatever teams may want him. The Jets are the party in deep shit, not Sanchez.
Make them sumo wrestle for the HC office.. I would rather get Reid than norv and I'd much rather he brought us Foles than Vick. that would be my dream scenario. Foles has elite qb potential.
Norv Turner is a great OC, terrible head coach but when it comes to just the offense he is top class.
Yep, he did. Moore is an advisor for the Titans and they showed him on the sidelines when they mentioned it.
Norv Turner keeps getting HC jobs... because of how fantastic an OC he is: 2006 Niners - Alex Smith's second year, goes from 1:11 ratio to 16:16 and a 40 rating to 75. Team rushes for a total of 2172 yards at a 4.9 clip. 2003 Fish - Go 10-6 with the vaunted Fiedler/Griese/Ricky Williams offense. 2002 Fish - Go 9-7 with the vaunted Fiedler/Ray Lucas/Ricky Williams offense. #2 rushing offense in the league that year. 2001 Bolts - #11 offense behind 39 year old Doug Flutie and a rookie LaDainian Tomlinson 1993 Cowboys - Super Bowl Champs. #2 scoring offense 1992 Cowboys - Super Bowl Champs. #2 scoring offense 1991 Cowboys - 11-5, #7 scoring offense Consistently shows the ability to tailor an offense to his talent, has fielded running teams, has fielded passing teams. More ground and pound than he gets credit for.
Andy Reid will end up being a HC somewhere if he gets fired from Philly (not a guarantee he will get fired). In my opinion I could see him going to San Diego
Players????? The defense needs a patch in the second tier...you get Revis back, and that barely matters... On the other side, in the spring you would have Holmes back, Edwards, Hill, Kerley, Keller and Cumberland...the roster is both deeper and pretty talented...
I think Norv would be a good match with Rex. If Rex stays and Sparano goes, which I think is the most likely scenario going forward right now, then I don't know who would be a better match for Ryan. Of course it is possible the O plays well under McElroy. Could that save Sparano's job? I don't really know. It's possible.
Sparano really had no chance here with the way Sanchez played. That said, he doesn't exactly have a huge track record as play caller or OC. there were plenty of times i saw just too much confusion, lack of efficiency, and questionable play calling which had nothing to do with player execution. Norv would be a huge upgrade, and the Jets should move on that asap! Fair to Sparano? No, but it doesn't matter when an offense performs this badly. Jets need to make this move regardless of how well McElroy plays next 2 games.
I agree with part of what your saying. The Jets certainly don't need 22 new players.. However, we have a massive question at QB. The team isn't getting over the hump until that is answered. We won't even be competitive unless we can find a competent stop gap. Also remember guys like Edwards, Keller, Greene, Slauson are not signed for next year. I wouldn't keep any of them unless on the cheap. On defense, Revis is a huge question mark to play next year. Landry, Bell, Devito are FA's. Lots of big player decisions need to be made. Lots of new blood needed on offense, and hopefully some re-signs on defense, with very limited cap room. I just hope key decisions not made by Tanny or Woody.
With Tom Moore saying this past weekend that he's had his knee replacements and feels better than ever and is ready to get back into coaching as an OC......whats to debate? You write this guy a check!! This guy could build a winner even with Sanchez.
^^^ That being said I dont have a huge issue with Sporano's offense or his plays. But his unbelievable lack of gameplanning and not being able to adjust on the fly and purposly killing QB momentum ect ect......is just unforgivable and inexcuseable. He is an idiot. He needs to go.
