Don't feel bad, the world is full of people like you, who rather then ever admit to being wrong simply rationalize everything. You and Nyjunc (and others) simply cannot get over your man-love for Sanchez. Nothing is ever his fault. It's the coach, it's the receives, it's the OL, they are all working to hold Sanchez back from exploding into the next Joe Montana. All these ridiculous rationalizations fall apart if Mcelroy steps in with the same exact personnel and coaches and puts out a decent performance, so you are finding other ways to rationalize. The game "doesn't count", there no "league film" on him. Your preemptive declaration that Mcelroy's performance is meaningless is completely consistent. After all, to people like you, Sanchez's disgraceful performance was always meaningless too (it wasn't his fault, right?). The bottom line is that when Mcelroy goes out there with the same crew that Sanchez had and does something Sanchez hasn't done all year - deliver a performance that isn't disgraceful - it will be a direct repudiation of Sanchez sycophants like you, whether you choose to accept it or not.
If you analyze Tannenbaum's moves since he took the helm, it's obvious basically everybody else is collectively making personnel decisions for him. He's like a puppet on a string. Woody -- favre, Tebow Mangenius -- draft day trade partner which enabled Sanchez pick, revis, mangold, dbrick, vern the ghost Rex Ryan -- Sancho, Bart Scott, Jim Leonhard, Coples, kyle wilson, terminator. Sanjay Lal -- Chaz Schilens Umass pipeline (gm's alma mater) -- ducasse, Wilkerson, yet somehow not victor Cruz Sparano -- Clyde Gates, Yeremiah bell, failed attempt at Henne Sanchez -- Scotty McKnight, joe McKnight, Konrad Reuland (childhood friend) Bill Callahan -- Slauson Some of these have panned out, some haven't. Bottom line: you have to get a real GM in there who knows the game, understands how to build a team, has a plan, and has a vision for executing that plan.
I didn't become Sanchez's bitch until the NE playoff game. You've already become Mcelroy's bitch after one drive against the Cardinals.
If you read this thread you'll see I was calling for Mcelroy to start before this season started. I didn't need this years embarrassing performance to convince me that Sanchez was dog shit, that was abundantly clear after the last 3 years. As far as Mcelroy goes, all I've said all along is that he's better then Sanchez, and he should be given a chance to show what he can do. If he plays like shit the next 2 games, then we know what we have and we can look elsewhere for our starting QB. Even if he tanks and is completely unable to be a starting QB in the NFL he is still much better then Sanchez will ever be.
I got no problem with Mcelroy starting. Sanchez is done here. Unlike you I don't think if he is great in these 2 games it means squat. How much did it mean when Sanchez had a great game against the Bills week 1? Nothing no tape new O. The reality is the NFL is all about adjustments. One of the reasons Sanchez sucks is he has been completely figured out by the league and he doesn't have the brain to adjust. If you read this thread you would see that I don't give a crap about Sanchez. I just know that the same GM who drafted Clemens and Sanchez and gave away a 4th for Timmy, hitting with Mcelroy is about the same shot that a bowery drunk has of picking up the winning powerball lottery in the street. Hey it could happen and I hope it does. I love a rag arm to riches story.
