He's less defensive than Herm and Mangini were. Much less defensive than Herm. Meaning of course in the way he reacts to criticism. I liked Herm a lot but he could get plaintive if somebody rode him the way Kay is riding Rex.
Sporano is doing a good job. Not his fault Sanchez sucks. One thing I've noticed is that he is complementary of everyone but Mark Sanchez.
Sparano is a terrible offensive coordinator. He may be a good run game coordinator, which is what he was in Dallas, but he's a bad offensive coordinator. He doesn't understand that every drive the offense does not put 7 on the board is a failure at some level.
Agreed. Not giving them easy controversy quotes, not bashing his players publicly. Not sure what some posters here are looking for him say, but displaying frustration and taking the bait would just feed the machine. It's his job to keep the team together and to play with some pride for 2 more games. That is what he is doing..
He has not. But, he's not going to blast Sanchez directly to the media. He's accepting responsibility for it, which is what a good head coach should do.
When push comes to shove and Woody sits down with Rex to discuss this season, I will bet the farm that Rex throws Sanchez under the bus.
This is entertaining. He has no answers for anything. The whole team was a circus this year. From hiring Sparano to bringing in Tebow, it was a clown show from the start I forgot the part where Sparano and the wildcat were winning 12-14 games a year. They replaced Shotty (bad) with Sparano (awful). He has one good season in Miami and Tanny and Woody are convinced he can develop an already struggling Mark Sanchez? This year's team was a joke and the laughing stock of the NFL. Hands down.
He can handle the heat, and owning the blame is what a good coach does. Players really respect the approach he is taking with the media right now. It's why i think he is the right coach for this team and town as well.
Sanchez SHOULD be thrown under the bus. There were only three games we lost due to a massive failure of the entire team (Dolphins, Niners, Steelers). The rest of them, we lost due to poor QB play. I really, really, really, really don't see Sanchez here next year. Rex did not butter him up at all to the media or highlight anything special about him.
Totally agreed. He'll never say it publicly, but to me he just said it without saying it. When the doors are closed, Rex will point directly to Mark. As he should.
Problem is, Rex actually has to win something bigger than the back pages of the local tabloids. He did a masterful job of not answering questions tonite.
Could you imagine what Rex must be thinking off the air, He says what he has to say and coach lingo and all that BS. But I bet in private Rex can't stand Sanchez and in private he would give you diffrent answers to these type of questions
