as bad as it is and as many issues as it will cause i just want to see them get rid of him. any way they can. fuck if they have to eat 17 million for a year so be it. just get him the fuck out of here. i have no interest in seeing him in a jets uniform ever again. for any reason, under any circumstance. fuck him.
McE should be QB next year. Draft offense in 2013. See what McE can do. If he doesn't have "it", then if there are any good QB options in 2014 go all in. Sanchez should either be cut or kept as a backup. No way he starts unless he greatly improves.
If the starter goes down in week 17 next year and Sanchez has to be put in, I am pretty certain the reception would be just as bad. He's done in New York. The fans won't let him back on the field under favorable conditions. I am not sure why you have such a hard time understanding that.
@ Junc. This is an example of what I am talking about and imagine Met Life being filled with these fans thoughts. And quite honestly, I don't blame him.
This was a total disgrace. The Jets have had plenty of embarrassing moments over the years but what I saw last night sits somewhere at the very top. This joke of a QB was given one gift after another and just kept finding ways to flush the game down the toilet. He has to go.
Is it really going to cost 17.1 million to cut Sanchez after this season. Tannenbaum has to be fired just for that alone.
Yeah it's going to cost 17.15 million. Combined with the Revis deadline the Jets are on life support right now cap-wise. No idea how they would get out of it looking good but I'm sure there's a way in there somewhere to push all the pain a year down the line and collapse then.
Just don't see Tanny exposing the team so badly like this without Rex telling him Sanchez is worth it. Tanny negotiates the contract but his coaches tell him who they want & how badly they want them on the roster.
it's funny how people say that Tanny is such a great capologist, yet he has doomed this team for a couple years going forward with his antics.
It really was. The Jets had the ball on the opponent's 25 with 47 seconds to go and I was really hoping they'd run a trap draw. I thought it was their best chance to score.
I posted this in another thread without reponse and would really like someone with more knowledge of the NFL labor structure to weigh in on whether or not it's actually possible: This may sound like a crazy idea, but would it be possible for a third party to buy out Sanchez's guaranteed money in 2013+ provided that he nullify his own contract? Let's say that Jets fans have a fundraiser, raise $8.5M and give it to Sanchez under the condition that he just sign away his current contract. If this could actually work and the team would not have to take a cap hit, would you contribute $100 to not see Sanchez play next year without putting the team in salary cap purgatory? I would pay double my Sunday Ticket price to not have to watch him take snaps next year and give the Jets a chance to be active in the free agent market. The Jets also have several high profile, very wealth fans - George R.R. Martin, Mohamed El-Erian, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, etc... would they not shell out a bit of cash to save their favorite team from Tannenbaum's mess? Fantasy or reality?
It's fantasy dude...league rules (player union) would never allow something like that and to be quite honest I wouldn't pay a dime. It's the front office's mess and they need to hire some quality people to find their way out of this mess. The other day we saw a 'back-up' QB from the Redskins put up starter type numbers to lead his team to a crucial road victory. I started wondering how the Jets could pry him away and whether Revis could be part of a deal. Then I read somewhere on this board that the cap implications make that idea pretty much impossible. One thing I know.....Sanchez has played his game game in NY. He is damaged goods. He can play somewhere else...KC, AZ, SD, OAK.....not in NY. I say try to get a fourth round pick for him and eat the money for 2013, get a high pick for 2014 with alot of $$ room under the cap. This is at least a two year rebuilding job anyway.
Either cut him immediately or demote him to emergecy QB and make him inactive for all 17 games and cut him after next season.
While I agree in general I don't know about specifically with Sanchez. I'm not really 100% familiar with his contract but I've read a few times that it's relatively easy for the Jets to walk away from him after next season. Unfortunately it's very difficult (i.e. expensive) to walk away from him this season. So on the Sanchez front he's really only "doomed" the team for one year. But, yes, in general he's done a shit job.
Except Eli was actually a lot better than Sanchez and at times show flash of greatness, especially considering coming out of Ole Miss, everyone knew Eli was a pretty good Btw Coughlin was actually on the hot seat in 07 and again in 11 by front office. If he didnt win the SB that those two years, we would have been definitely gone especially in 07.
