You may not want to hear this and believe me I wouldn't either, but Rex will go back to Sanchez and he should. The franchise has to much invested in him through next year to not see if the benching him helps. The next game is in Jacksonville where he doesn't have to hear the boos (amongst other things) and the Jets can see if he is able to somehow get in a rhythmn. Certainly he will be on a much shorter leash. I think it is obvious at this point that the Jets need to go in a different direction but that's a lot of dead money in a cap strapped year. Another thing to keep in mind is that he has no help on offense and McElroy or Tebow would be no better off.
I'm surprised @ how many posts here state Sanchez gives this team the best chance to win all games left in the season or in the playoffs. If Sanchez finished yesterdays game then the Cards win 6-0 (assuming Mark doesn't turn it over again). With Sanchez, the Jets would've had 8 losses & playoffs would already be out of reach. He doesn't deserve the chance to complete a playoff run that he nearly flushed into the toilet for us.
i think you are wrong on the rex going with sanchez. I believe it was an extremely hard descision that Rex had to do, but now the hard part is done and he can legitimely give Greg another chance. I think Sanchez is over in Rex's mind, too many 'new' starts that has passed him by He always has the option to go back to Sanchez once more "he has taken the benching well, training hard, great kid, learnt from this . . . ".
It should be: McElroy Sanchez Inactive: Tebow Sanchez is done for the year. Tebow is just a distraction and should be cut.
I feel like I'm in Bizarro world... I have been as critical of Sanchez as anyone, but I can't possibly be the only one who thought McElroy looked like shit yesterday. No arm strength...needed a couple of crazy catches just to make short first downs...took forever to throw that TD to Cumberland even though there was nobody near either of them...threw a terrible pick that luckily got called back... Fine...a message has been sent to Sanchez, but people can't possibly think McElroy deserves to start based off what we saw yesterday.
I think it was a good decisions to change yesterday, I think we go back to Mark on the road and see how he responds to be lifted.
LOL @ anyone voting for Sanchez. Hope you're all in Oakland cheering for the Raiders whenever he winds up there back riding Leinart's coattails. The time's are a changing!
yep, we are back to having a new HC/QB every 2-3 years. I hope you guys are all happy. I hate Jet fans, if I didn't love the team so much I'd switch. we have the worst fanbase in sports.
I think we should do what we thought they would do before the year started. and thats have a starting QB with tebow sprinkled in for a series here and there to see if he can provide a spark or if the starter falters. only that starter should be McElroy. I'd have greg start and give tim 2-3 series and go from there. allows you to ease greg in and also see what both guys can do with extended time on the field. I'd also be ok with just starting Tebow if he can go. under no circumstances would i start sanchez. there is simply nothing to gain by starting mark
No I wasn't happy, I am not happy when our players fail. I agreed w/ the decision but I certainly was not happy.
The problems will be the same. what might be different is how he reacts to those short comings. a a short drive that ends in a 3 and out punt is much better then one that ends in an interception. a long drive that ends in a field goal is alot better then one then ends in a back breaking interception. greg doesnt need to do much to be better then mark. simply protect the football.
how can a backup "earn a starting role"? other then to come in when called upon and execute. which he kinda did. better question: what has sanchez done to earn the right to keep the starting role?
mcelroy doesnt need to be good. he just needs to not be the worst starting qb in football, and turn it over more then anyone else in the league. id would be hard for him to not meet those goals
you werent happy when we scored a go ahead touchdown? how is someone coming in and leading us to a score a failure?
I was happy about that, you asked if I was happy Mark was benched and no that did not make me happy b/c that meant he was playing like crap and hurting the team. why would that make me happy?
I would go with Tebow because Rex will have to dodge and weave all week about how convienent it was that he waited until Tebow was "inactive" to make the move. If Tebow is able to play next week is he inactive because he is now 3rd on the depth chart? Is he going to remain active as the personal protector on the punt team? The only way to lower the drama is to start Tebow and if he fails then the path is clear for Greg.
Obviously I think they should start McElroy. Tebow needs to be gone this off season, as step #2 to return to a legitimate franchise, step #1 being what they did yesterday in pulling Sanchez. The Tebots need to understand there was never any plan to start Tebow. He was brought here to sell tickets. At most they would use him like another Brad Smith. They would have to change the whole O to make Tebow the starter, while McElroy fits right into this offense. Tebow never was a real #2 Qb. Face it, Tebots. Yesterday showed it is between Sanchez and McElroy now that McElroy shows he can get it done. And as between them, what has Sanchez done to deserve getting the starting position back? If the Jets had left Sanchez in teh game yesterday, they would have lost. It is as crystal clear as it ever gets. Instead they put McElroy in there and won the game. Poor Sanchez fans. Poor Tebots. Great day for Jet fans, though.
I'm fine with us rolling with Greg, Tebow, or a combination of both from here on out. Starting sanchez or even having him as a backup makes little sense to me as we already know what he is -- and that isnt the awnser. If the jets have no plans to use tebow as a starting qb in the future, then id be fine with them goign exclusively with mcelroy. although i think it would be a bad idea to not see how tebow can do, given he has been successful (by first year qb standards). maybe he is terrible, but its irresponsible not to find out, especially in this situation, where you have 4 games and nothing to play for. id like to see what both greg and tim have so we can see how to proceed
