Should be McElroy. Might be Nacho. Won't be Tebow. Give him a week of first team snaps and see what he can do. I love the guy, he reminds me a lot of Pennington - not a great arm, but smart as hell, accurate, and doesn't turn the ball over.
Bannon sounds like Karl Rove after Obama won Ohio The dream is over, tebow isn't starting for us the rest of the season, neither is sanchez. Enter McElroy
he did throw a pick though and was saved by a fairly weak ref call. he also got the benefit of some other ref calls and an amazing catch by Kerley. watching the game McElroy looked no better than Sanchez - we are screwed either way, at least with Sanchez you feel like you are trying to get something back on your investment.
All right, I'll hang it up and give up the dream. I've not had the desire to debate whether Tebow can play ( I think he can), nor whether Sanchez should be benched (he's a franchise QB, owed a ton of money, and whether the team needs to turn the page is a HUGE decision that's bigger than whether Tebow gets to play). But when there's an opening to discuss? That's football. Time to talk again. Something to discuss.
He probably will. And he'll be justified based on wat we know as fans and through the media for the lack of support the team gave him. However, McElway should be starting next week. Next season I see Sanchez, McElway, and Vick competing for the starting QB role.
That throw was a major duck. He demonstrates no ability to fire it in there 25+ yards down the field. Any throw can sort of of wobble and be a bad spiral -- but he shouldn't have even put that much air under it. It displayed an inability to throw it hard.
Has anyone not missed the parallel between this year's Jets and the 2010 Broncos? Just substitute GMac for Tebow and Sanchez for Orton. I say give the kid another chance and allow him to start next week, he's earned it. Unfortunately After hearing "Sanchez is our best option to win" all season I have a strong suspicion that Sanchez will start next week and GMac will again have to come in and clean up his mess. I believe that the coaches may consider that Sanchez would have less of a crowd distraction at an away game. I'm a Tebow fan but I also know about rib injuries and I don't think he will be healed by then or even the week after. Let the spontaneous combustion begin.
Tebow can play football, nobody is denying that. And I'll even be the first to admit that Tebow has the best deep ball on the team right now even compared to McElroy. But the game isn't all just deep balls, and Tebow struggles throwing simple 10-15 yard passes. And to be honest, nobody knows why the Jets brought in Tebow in the first place. I would've been content with keeping Stanton personally. All this talk of wildcat packages and whatever to me are just complete BS. I like Tebow, but I don't think he's the right fit for this team. Mark is certainly done and the Jets have to look at McElroy for the rest of the season.
I think tebow can play too, but Rex won't do it. Sanchez looked 10 times worse in the 49er, Miami, and Seattle games, why wouldn't rex just pull the plug? Isn't it a coincidence that the one week sanchez looks like dogshit and tebow is inactive, Rex puts Gregatron in with no hesitation? Put the pieces together. This was all woody. Rex wants no part of tebow or anything he brings to the table.
I think he kept Tebow on the bench in blowouts to avoid stirring the QB controversy flames. Now he's beyond that, willing to do it. I think the rib injury is real, so that's kind of complicating the situation.
If he wants to avoid QB controversy flames then why take out Mark now and just keep him in for the whole season? Why is it now that Greg McElroy is active, he gets the call that Tebow couldn't get when he was 2nd string QB
Well, now he's not trying to avoid it. My point was avoid the controversy until he's willing to make the change for the season. When the Jets are out of playoff contention. So, that answers your second question. I think he would have put in Tebow today if he was active and McElroy was not.
If it takes you 20 minutes to windup on every throw, and you never have any idea where the ball is going, then you don't have a good arm. Start McElroy. I remain deeply skeptical that he can be a productive NFL starter, but we might as well see what we've got with the guy.
The Jets are still in the playoff hunt and any Jets fan will know how stubborn Rex Ryan is when it comes to the team officially being out for the playoffs. He knows more than anybody that they have a chance to make and I doubt he wouldn't put in McElroy if he knew it was a huge risk to his playoff hopes for the season.
It does tend to cancel out the velocity when you have a long windup. Tebow throws it with more velocity than anyone on the team.
The problems will be the same with McElroy, offensive line will give him time like they do MS and the receivers will not get open. We will be singing the same tune next week. SG is terrible as a RB, Keller is the only weapon we have on offense.
