To all NFL Head Coaches ... Enough of this nonsense. ENOUGH!!!
Who was the idiot who came up with this concept anyway?

Falcons up by 7 over the Saints ... lining up for a 55 yard FG with 4 minutes left ... and here it comes ... timeout called by Saints Head Coach Joe Vitt.
Hey Joe ... are you effin' KIDDING ME???

If Bryant makes the kick, the Saints are going to have 4 minutes left to save their season, and they'll need 10 points ... and they'll probably need every available second to have a chance ... and this imbecile wastes a timeout.
For what?? To "ice" the kicker?? Indoors ... with no wind ... no fan noise ... and no pressure. This wasn't a kick to tie the game. This wasn't a kick to win the game. It was a kick to extend a lead! Did he really expect Bryant to get a case of the jitters? If I was a Saints fan, I'd want this guy's head on a plate.

It turned out not to matter in the end ... but really guys ... ENOUGH.

Statistics show that icing the kicked doesn't work. Kickers do not mind the extra time to think about the kick. I guess in most situations, that's all a coach has, so he tries it.

Yea, it's more of a "Thanks Coach! Now I don't have to rush onto the field and rush myself through my routine and setup!"

If I remember correctly, didn't the Saints have 12 men on the field so he called the timeout?

I agree. A lot of the time, they'll ice the kicker and he'll miss anyway and then make it on the next try. It's silly. It does nothing but prolong the situation.

I wasn't aware of that ... but if that was the case, I'm the imbecile and certainly owe Joe Vitt an apology :)

But with that said ... I'd still like to see an immediate end to this idiotic strategy.

this is one thing I'd love to see just go away from the NFL, makes a mockery of the league IMO. It shouldn't be considered strategic, its simply a waste of time. As if the games weren't extended long enough with replay booth challenges not done in real time.
