(Be sure to post your rank, 1-32) The reason I ask this question is because I was thinking about this the other day and honestly I would take any starting QB in the league over Sanchez, except for any Arizona QB or Blaine Gabbert. Before anyone asks, no I'm not a huge Sanchez hater, and yes I AM being serious. The only other name I feel squeamish about is Matt Cassel. After coming to this conclusion it gave me serious pause. To think that I as a fan would feel more comfortable with any of this years starting rookies over Sanchez should sound like crazy talk, but here are the facts: Passing Cmp-Att-Yds (Pct.) TD-Int Rating Record Andrew Luck, 235-412-2,965 (57%) 12-12 77.2 6-4 Robert Griffin III, 186-277-2,193 (67.1%) 12-3 100.9 4-6 Ryan Tannehill, 179-308-2,120 (58.1%) 6-11 70.8 4-6 Brandon Weeden, 205-371-2,298 (55.3%) 11-12 70.3 2-8 Russell Wilson, 157-253-1,827 (62.1%) 15-8 90.5 6-4 Mark Sanchez, 168-314-2,038 (53.5%) 11-9 73.4 4-6 Sanchez seriously has the lowest completion percentage in the league yes, including all the rookies. I know some will say "but look at our WR core!" and my response to them would be "LOOK AT THE BROWNS!" So there for I have Sanchez ranked 30th among starting QBs.
I would take Sanchez over Gabbert, Cassel, Weeden, Kolb, Skelton, Tannehill, Palmer, Rivers, Romo, Vick etc. I'm not a huge Sanchez fan, but look at what he has to work with this season. Nothing. sure he makes some bad throws, but we have an inexperienced receiving corps who runs off their routes, drop passes, etc.
Although I have supported Sanchez over the past couple of years, I was never convinced he was the answer. I would not take Sanchez over any of the QB's you mentioned except maybe Weeden and Cassel. I wouldn't want to go with some of the other older guys long term but for right now definitely above Mark. As for the OP, it could vary between 25-30.
It depends. Are you talking straight up against the QBs or if we replaced Sanchez with QB X what would Sanchez do with X's team and what would X do with Sanchez's team? Two very different questions. For the straight ranking him, I have him 22 at the highest right now but 20-27 is a muddle Edit: 20-27 is a muddle that constantly changes
First off: Secondly, this is the type of post that is just so asinine I wish I could remove it from my thread. Each one of these guys are a multiple Pro bowler... Sanchez will NEVER make the Pro bowl selection.
I would put him about 28th or 29th Definitely ahead of Gabbert, ARI QB, KC QB Probably ahead of Weeden. Just behind Tannehill given age and experience differences.
It's just a straight up with the way Sanchez is playing compared to how the other starters are playing. Though my whole original thought process behind this was me thinking, if any of these 29 guys had this years full off-season with the Jets I firmly believe that QB would out play Sanchez.
I would take him over Russell Wilson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Tannehill, Michael Vick, Brandon Weeden, Blaine Gabbert, Matt Cassel, and whoever's starting for Arizona on any given week. But I'd also take two backups -- Hasselbeck and Campbell -- over him. So overall I guess I'd rank Sanchez around 26 in the league.
I have Kolb/Skelton, Gabbert, Vick/Foles, Cassell, Weeden as worse. So that puts Sanchez at 27. Then I have Cam, Stafford, Bradford, Sanchez, Rivers, Tannehill, Ponder, Bradford in that mess right above the bottom 5. That list rotates a lot. *I'm acting like Cutler and Big Ben are the CHI and PITT starters even though they currently aren't.
I'm not a vick fan by no means. I would actually hate to see us get him if he became available next year. With that being said, everyone is out of there mind to think Sanchez should be ranked higher than Vick. The eagles have the worst O-line in the league, and their play calling is horrible. They have McCoy who is one of the best RBs in the NFL, it's beyond me why he's not used a great great deal more.
A better question would be where do you have Sanchez ranked among the backup and 3rd string QBs. My guess would close to a top 20 backup QB. But among starters only Gabbert gives him competition for badness.
Assuming there are four tiers: 1-8, 9-16, 17-24 and 25-32, he would be in the 25-32 range for anyone with a fair evaluation of his play.
Bolded = crazy talk, you put those guys on this Jets team right now and its instant upgrade. Underlined = debatable
Richardson at RB is much better than Greene but at WR and TE the jets are better Holmes as much as I hate him is miles better than any of Gordon, Little, Massaquoi. Hill is probably equal to Gordon/Little Kerley is at least as good or better than their 3rd (Massaquoi or Norwood) and I would take Keller over Ben Watson every day and twice on Sunday. They also drop an insane amount of passes. 6.7% of attempts end in a drop.
Not worthy of a new thread so I'll drop this here: Some female talk radio talk show chick was going on and on today about seeing some neked guys running around behind the guys being interviewed in the locker room (one guy was Jerry Jones, being interviewed, not neked). I don't normally 'freeze frame' my 60" LCD looking for neked guys running around a locker room so I must have missed it, but how funny is it that Jerry Jones was 'up staged' by some 3rd stringers ass in the background??? Anyone catch it?
