If the owner cared about winning, he wouldn't of gotten Tebow for the sake of PSL licensing. That's BS. The Giants nor Patriots make these types of moves. They usually make moves to help their football team, not hurt it. Like I mentioned, he put his hands in the cookie jar and now he's paying for them. Bad decisions all around. Yeah we had some successful seasons, but we want to maintain that success and build off it, not regress the way we did. No team has fallen this fast from where we were. I can't name a team in the past decade that has fallen from grace like the Jets.

Didn't see it. Did he manage to get through it without a team brawl happening behind him this time? Smh

There HAS to be a press conference!!!!!!

    :p

I still don't think Woody brought in Tebow primarily for sales or that he has anything to do with the direction of the team. He just brings in the guys that make those decisions. No evidence that it was his idea. It is far more likely a Sparano idea.... but that's only if you think logically instead of believing crap like Woody doesn't care about the team only $$ or whatever the latest darksider trend is.

This is a complete truth. Go back and look at the Jets previous to Woody Johnson. You may not like the guy, but the fact of the matter is we have been far more successful with him as the owner. FACT.

yes, it would be great w/a SB app/win.

No one is buying a PSL b/c of Tim Tebow, he wasn't brought in here to sell PSLs.

Look at the Tebow jerseys that were purchased over the off-season. So your saying this wasn't a marketing ploy? Why is he here then? Because he sure as hell ain't helping us win games. He should of been cut then.

ITT: People get furious at Woody for forcing Tebow on the front office, have no idea if Woody did or did not force Tebow on the front office.

If you buy a PSL to watch Tebow fake a punt every 3 games you deserve all the AIDS you get

About time this circus gets shut down and it's pretty obvious by Johnson's comment that it will be as soon as the season is over. Too bad the most inept GM in history has fucked things up so bad that a) nobody any good will want the job and b) it will be another 15 years before we compete again.

He actually was very instrumental in the Indianapolis win. He even picked up a first down last weekend.

Why, why do you bring a qb in for 1 play only? At lease a series, damn.

Don, this is why you got the "least knowledgeable award" in '08. It's not like our coaches are raping boys in the locker room. We have pieces in place that we can build around. The defense is really close to elite and with a healthy Revis on the field they are elite.

If the offense could move the chains on, even just, every other 3rd and short we would be doing a lot better. We need to fix the o-line, get rid of Holmes, find a new receiver (production guy), get another Vet running back and build in the draft.

I'm thinking next year we can be competitive and in 2 years make another run.

Could do all of that and we'd still be a borderline playoff team.

Our defense doesn't have the personnel to be elite, not even with Revis. We didn't look elite before he went down, and we sure weren't elite last year. We could be top 10, but that's not enough to be a legitimate contender without a quality offense.

Fix our OL, replace Holmes (a very good receiver) with another very good receiver, add a vet running back and a few young pieces, and guess what you've got: a mediocre offense built around a terrible quarterback.

We need a league-average quarterback, at worst, to start talking about "making a run". The days of having a top 5 running game AND a top 5 defense are over. Those were two fluke years -- you can't sustain a top 5 defense and running game long-term. We don't need Brady or Manning, but we need at least a Matt Schaub. We're not going anywhere with a QB that's performing worse than Blaine Gabbert in his fourth season.

He was brought in because everyone anticipated us being bad, which was fairly obvious based on our personnel.

Woody inherited a franchise that was turned around by Hess's hirings, so
I disagree. In fact, we are lucky to have not imploded entirely with people like
Hermwards. Woody's wallet allows the Jets to buy talent, this is true, but I would take Hess again any day. I can't imagine Hess doing to the fans what Woody has done. Moreover, Woody hasn't really had anymore more success than Hess. Just comparing the late-90s to the recent years the best you can say for Woody is we've gotten to two AFC Championship games instead of the one under BP. Then again, the injury to Testaverde was devastating and flukish. I have confidence that the Jets that year were an excellent team and they showed it by going 8-8 with essentially no decent QB.

listen, I see why youre giving woody so much credit, but I just can't agree. Depending on how you analyze it the best you can argue is that he has had a wee bit more regular season success than Hess in comparable periods, but it hasn't gotten us anything more than Hess got. Moreover, the price paid by the fans was a royal screwing. At least Hess seemed like a decent human being.

Aren't all jersey sales shared among all teams or did I just dream that? What the hell does jersey sales matter to any team?

No, I got it because I said Gholsten was the worse pick in Jets history 2 minutes after it was made and people like you took offense to it.

Woody bought the team and Parcells stepped down then BB walked out on us and we had BP running the show and Al Groh coaching. An AWFUL situation.

Hess was great for the fans wallets, he was terrible for the team on the field. Woody is the opposite.

Woody is better than Leon. Even if Woody is more interested in PSL than winning, he still hasn't pulled off anything as stupid as forcing out a 1-year coach to bring in a recently-fired Kotite. My goodness, with Hess & Kotite I seriously considered giving up on American Football.

Only good thing I can remember happening under his "leadership" was the Parcells hire.

Seriously? I guess you were fine with the pre-Woody era success then.

Some people just wanna bitch cuz they think their hindsight is better than 20/20. Woody had done everything within his power to make this a better team. You can blame his continued support for Tanny, but only a year ago this board was super high on Tanny before we hit the wall. PSLs? Its business and yes, he made some decisions to sell PSLs, but he also spent every dime he had to try to make this a successful team.
