During tonight's game, Ben got hurt. Who knows how long he's going to be out. Their backup QB is the only guy they have left, and if he's injured...shit hits the fan. I know shit has hit the fan for us, but I think it's time for the coaching staff to consider putting McElroy on the active QB roster pretty soon before Sanchez gets concussed. It satisfies the Tebow haters and Sanchez haters at the same time.
Why is everybody love McElroy? He is like AJ McCaron, can only hit the check down and can't carry a team on his back when they need him to make a play.
Greg McElroy legacy: 1. Having an awesome supporting cast that hide him as a QB, game manager. 2. Making Tim Tebow cry in the 2009 SEC Championship game. 3. Completely choking in the 2nd half in the 2010 Iron Bowl, AT HOME!!!
I have roughly zero faith that McElroy can be a successful NFL QB (and I've been hilariously attacked for that opinion by the practice-squad fanboys,) but at this point I say fuck it. He's not our future under center, but I'm fairly sure he can go 9-24 with 125 yards and two turnovers just as well as Sanchez or Tebow can.
The third QB is always listed as inactive, but they are eligible to enter the game if they are needed. If they come in before the 4th QTR then they must play the whole game hwoever.
i heard that rule is no longer a rule... someone said it somewhere. heres my question. if the 3rd comes in during the second quarter and gets hurt then they cant put the 2nd back in? and what exactly is the penalty if they do?
That rule was changed. P.S. Found an explanation. Basically the active game roster is now 46 instead of 45 and the 3rd QB rule was abolished. McElroy isn't on the 46 man game day roster so he isn't even dressing. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...arterback-rule-46-active-players-on-game-day/
well considering sanchez CANT hit a check down and cant carry a team on his back, thats already an improvement. no one is in love with mcelroy, its just when you have the worst qb in football and are 3-6 you'd like to see a change
Based on everything that I have seen of McElroy I would say, hands down, no! However, based on everything I have seen from Sanchez and the three plays we have designed for Tebow (awesome sparano :up I say..... "Start this Beast!"
