Hell, how many have felt that way any time Sanchez has gotten near the red zone this year, or had the ball in a position to mount a drive and win the game.

It's almost expected at this point. Teams don't have to seriously defend Sanchez, just let him self destruct. Line 11 guys up out there, apply a little bit of pressure and he's bound to hand the ball over.

This is another wasted thread on coordinators. There is no point in blaming the OC when the offense has ZERO talent. Zero. What the fuck difference what play gets called if you have 11 retards running it?

Until Tanny gets fired and Rex goes with him, there is no reason to worry about play-calling. Period. End of story.

Here's a scenario for all you would-be OCs....

3rd and 4 from midfield. Sanchez cannot complete a 4 yard pass. Shonn Greene cannot run 4 yards in just one carry naturally. What do you call. You have 15 seconds to get the play in.........and..............................BEGIN NOW.

it would be nice to have a competent coordinator who can call plays though. We haven't had one since Parcells/Weis.

I agree. But again, we have no football players to run the plays. No football players. This team is massively devoid of talent. I think some people are not appreciating how talentless we are.

If the Jets are serious about getting a legitimate offense next year then they need to spend big bucks and bring in Norv Turner. Turner would be a great addition in the fact that Rex can actually give control of the offense to someone who can actually handle it and he can just focus on defense.

Norv aint workin for Rex. No way, no how. Im pretty sure Norv thinks Rex is a fat, loud-mouthed cunt. Not sure where he would get that impression. Just a hunch.

The answer is not to just try another OC. We NEED o hire a football GM first. Is this not obvious?

This is true. And it's made worse when our OC puts our talent-less offense in positions to fail rather than trying to find ways to get them to succeed. As an example we can't pass the ball down field unless we are able to generate a running game. We can't generate a running game because our OL and RB's are shit. But why not design passing plays that gets the ball out of Mark's hand quickly i.e. the short passing game (a one read pass). This eliminates Mark having to make decisions (something he hasn't done well with), the OL needing to pass protect for an extended period of time (something they have struggled with for 2 seasons now) and substitutes for a running game. Unfortunately all we see on passing situations are 8-15 yard pass routes that have been an epic fail.

You may be right. But this could be a good spot for Norv. He can either correctly develop Sanchez or he would have a rookie / young QB to work with. He would most likely have a large amount of say with talent acquisitions (probably spelled that incorrectly). And if he cares could regain his name in the big city (kind of what Kevin Gilbride did with the Giants). Just thinking out-loud here.

Well, we cant run a screen, so thats out. Wwe have no RB who can catch a cold, so thats out. Sanchez gets 75% of his slants batted down now. What short pass routes can we run....and more importantly, which receiver or TE on this talentless team is able to get off the line of scrimmage and get open?

correctly spelled bro. Aand I appreciate your thinking out loud. But its a lost cause. Thre is no OC that can come in here and make this offense work. It isnt even an offense.

I'm on the fence as to the "no football players" thing. hell, if you look at this year, Nick Mangold looks like a scrub.

I'm to the point of thinking that our Offensive Line coach is a talentless hack who is riding off the fact that he was an assistant oline coach on a SB winning team, and I'm having serious questions about Sparano as well given that most of our run plays involve straight ahead blocking as if that's going to be very successful.

In short, you can look at any of the Tebow plays as a microcosm of Sparano's inability to design and call plays. A designed QB run by Tebow is basic "Power O" football. You line up, ball gets snapped, guard or tackle pulls from one side, crashes the other, end on that side blocks down. Pulling lineman gives a Wham block, lead back goes through the hole, Tebow follows afterwards.

It's kind of intricate in scheme, but it's easy as hell to execute. Funny thing is, I have YET to see it run by the Jets.

This isn't "NFL Power Running Football: The Super Advanced Course", rather, this is "Basic Fundamentals of Football: Things that even a Junior High Coach Should Know How to Do."

Well, Kerley can get off the line, get separation and finds holes in the defense. There are a lot of ways to make those plays work. We could do a better job with our formations. I know our RB's aren't great pass catchers, but when we have actually called screen passes; they've done well (outside of the one in the Texans game). Bubble screens? Spot route combination? TE Screen to get Keller the ball in space? These are just things that I am coming up with on the fly (actually that's a lie. I think about this shit all day, every day).

When have we ever looked good throwing screen passes? Its probably the weakest part of our "repertoire" (sp)?

I agree Kerley can get open sometimes. But that aint gonna be enough to get my dick hard.

And by the way, Mangold has smelled a bit over the last 12 games or so. Just sayin.

I think we've only called screen passes 3 times this year and two of them went for big gainers (the third was the epic fail against HOU).

We had a slip screen just this last game and Sanchez couldn't manage to get it over a lineman, yet again.

I remember that play now that you mention it. When OL is getting destroyed at the POA it's pretty damn near impossible to complete those passes.

Ummm, it's a SCREEN pass. Pretty much by definition, your OLine is supposed to "get destroyed" so that they can go out and form the "Screen".

It's a sucker play. Line lets Dline through, QB backs up to suck them in, then throws over top of them to a RB who just conveniently happens to have a screen of blockers in front of him.
