Staten Island is really the forgotten borough and probably one of the most devastated along with Breezy Point
My niece gets all of next week off my school. Presumably this is because schools are being used as shelters. I still have no power.

This is unreal.... before and after shots of some places in Ocean County. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/11/before_and_after_sandy_photos.html#incart_maj-story-1
Stay strong. That's one silver lining that your house survived. It sounds like there's plenty to do and little time to feel sorry for yourself, which is probably a good thing. Shoot me a PM if there's something I can send you via USPS.
Mantoloking, my goodness.... Normandy got destroyed, too, but I've been on the Mantoloking Bridge a few hundred times. Wow... Seeing the bridge like that is horrible. Seeing Gee Gee's in Manasquan with all the debris inside was also gutwrenching. Oh, and my dad's house in Pt. Pleasant... Home sweet home! Luckily no inside damage, but the back deck is ripped apart. And here's our boat 500 yards from the dock on someone's "lawn."
Just saw on the CNN the story of those two little kids 2 and 4 years old who died in the hurricane on Staten Island. Their house was flooded so the mom took the kids in the car and tried to drive to a relative's in Brooklyn. Along the way, the car got swept up in the flooding and got stuck in a ditch. This is the part that's massively fucked up. The mom struggled up to the house next door and the motherfucker wouldn't even open the fucking door, let alone try to help her. Same deal with the next house. The two kids got swept away and drowned. They showed the first homeowner on CNN and this fucker is a real piece of work. After the reporter told him they found the bodies, he said they shouldn't have been outside in the first place. This is the scum fucker right here:
only dunkin' donuts near us is in gas station. People are camped out waiting. Owner said they were waiting for a shipment from Jersey, everyone is beginning to look really stressed out and we have power though both shopping centers with the supermarkets are closed.
Jay Wayne-------possible storm Wednesday ? TV guy said looks more wet than white but Northern Subs could get snow,,,,,,,I know it is a few days off but keep us posted,,,,, we DO NOT NEED a wet or white or any storm anytime soon!
Bloomberg is absolute scum for holding marathon. AYFKM? People are DESPERATE for help on SI and this fucking guy is running two huge generators for the press in Central Park. And how about shipping all the sweatshirts and Gatorade and all the rest of the stuff from the marathon to help people in SI who have nothing left!? No better for bloomy and his limousine liberal friends on the upper west side enjoy their little sporting event. My 90 year grandmother, god rest her soul, lived in queens by herself. If her neighborhood had flooded she would have died without help for two days . I'm so fucking pissed. If you're not, you're not paying attention. Fuck you Bloomberg.
It sucks but I will tell you that after the ice storm in SW Missouri a few years back some people did not have power for 12 days in the dead of winter. Hopefully it will be back on soon.
I saw that on TV, the woman claimed she went to the back and tried to throw a planter through his sliding glass door and when the CNN reporter called him on it the guy claimed no woman came to the door but a man tried to throw the planter. Then he made the comment that "what could I do to help, I'm not a rescue worker". You don't need to be a rescue worker you piece of shit. You need to be human being. It's people like him that make me in favor of vigilante justice.
America really needs to get away from this "fuck everyone else but me" attitude and start to realize we're all in this together. It's an attitude that gets reinforced in every aspect of life from the workplace to the bedroom. That story is beyond sad and I hope one day this guy realizes what his actions (or lack thereof) caused. I'm sure his Creator will have this little episode laid out for him when his time comes.
I'm fucking livid that this marathon is still happening. I hate Bloomberg right now. Motherfucker does hot truly comprehend that this is not a uplifting moment but a tragedy. The fact that this race starts in Staten Island where peoples lives are ruined is joke in itself. I hope the marathon gets shitted on
I agree, there was a question about whether they should cancel the Knicks game tonight while people in lower Manhattan do not have power. I think there is a big difference between playing a basketball game when half your city has no power and running through streets where rescue workers are searching for survivors or recovering bodies. I am in agreement, there is no way that the marathon should be run.
