certainly feasible. even still id rather risk rivers being injured then keep sanchez and hope by some miracle he stops sucking
I never said I'd want to bring in Sanchez if I were the Chargers. I said I wouldn't go out of my way to get Rivers if I was the Jets.
Hey guys, their is a 469 page thread on sanchez sucks. Should I merge this one into it too or are we going to get back on track?
Wait now we can use track record but not bring up Sanchez's playoff track record or play in those games? Come on man, be consistent. Rivers is sucking now, Sanchez is sucking now. There is no other way around it. Just because Rivers has played better in the past doesn't mean his sucking is allowable. Again, his worst games have been worse than Sanchez's and well he's played at Sanchez's level this year. Be consistent and rip them equally.
I thought I was in the Sanchez sucks thread :shit: No to Vick. There aren't good looking options out there. Gotta build the team up while searching for one. Obviously draft one this year and maybe there will be a veteran QB out there this offseason like Hasselback? I mean they are in a tough place right now, but building the team will make the job a lot easier for whoever is going to step in at QB.
sorry, i guess i was kind of unclear. i AM saying i would go out of my way to get rivers if i was the jets
i have no problem using track record. what i do have an issue with is basing a player(any player) off of what he did in 6 games while ignoring what he did in the other 40 games. i like when guys play well in the playoffs, and in big spots. but it is still a REALLY small sample size. in 40 regular season games, sanchez has been awful. you cant ignore that. i would disagree with this. if a guy has been very good for several years, then has a bad start, i dont think that can be taken the same as a guy being very bad for several years and then has a bad start.
And Sanchez hasn't been awful in his 40 other games. I just went through quickly and counted 14 awful games in his 4 years. I don't know where you got 40 awful games from. He is what he is, a middling QB who can't hide weaknesses on a team. Guess what, only 5-6 QBs can hide weaknesses on their team, but they can't hide them come playoff time. There is no QB solution this year that will fix the team. Ride it out with Sanchez, draft one, improve the team, let Sanchez be a lame duck next year, let him walk, draft more good pieces, unleash new QB in 2014 from the 2013 draft. Worst case scenario is Sanchez plays well with a better a team next year and we think about keeping him instead of starting the new QB. But Rivers has had some terrible starts throughout the whole season, it isn't just one. When you are playing bad, you are playing bad. The past doesn't change the fact that you are playing bad.
Against the lowly Chiefs at home? I would hope so. He still doesn't look like his normal self from 2 seasons ago.
as a whole, he has played awful over that stretch. like bottom 3 QB rating during that span. if thats not awful i dont know what is
Enough with picking up other teams problem. We dont need another has been on this team like Favre. We need to draft our own version of Luck or RG3 or something close to that. I know its not easy but its what we need.
Why is everyone wanting a new QB. The new class dosn't impress me at all. Geno Smith and Tyler Wilson are products of a system, Barkley is just another Leinart/Sanchez, Colin Klein is just another Tebow, Logan Thomas sucks in college meaning he will suck in the pros, and Tyler Bray isn't impressive at all. Let ride out with Sanchez/Tebow/Mcelroy, unless the season really goes in the tank. Honestly, I always thought the perfect QB for Rex was a veteran, like Jason Campbell.
We're past the trading deadline now. The Jets QB this year is going to be Sanchez/Tebow/McElroy. For next year there isn't a rookie coming out in the Eli Manning/Andrew Luck category. Matt Barkley is 6'2". That's not what I want the Jets to invest a huge amount of value in. Could he turn out to be good? Of course he could but it's time for the Jets to find a 6'4" plus guy to build the team around. That's where the NFL is headed, with players becoming bigger and taller every year. The Jets offensive line has several players 3 to 4 inches taller than Mark Sanchez and the Jets line is not big by any means. They're also that much taller than Dustin Keller who is the primary outlet in the middle of the field. That's just not a good situation. So you're looking at the second tier of the 1st round prospects at this point to get the requisite size that the Jets should be looking for and those guys are all very possibly Joe Flacco in the making based on what we know about them at this point. What that really suggests is that next year is not the year to go get the can't miss franchise prospect for the Jets, that guy is just not out there. No amount of fantasizing on the part of the Jets talent evaluation people is going to change the fact that Andrew Luck was drafted in 2012, not available in 2013. Taking a QB in the middle rounds isn't likely to help much either. Those guys don't generally turn into star QB's. If you look at the guys starting around the NFL right now only two of them, Matt Schaub and Russell Wilson, were taken after the early 2nd round and before the 6th. So if the Jets want to go get a QB next year it seems like the 2nd round, and early in the 2nd round is the only place that makes sense given the lack of clear franchise prospects other than Barkley in the 1st round. Even then the guys taken early in the 2nd are just as likely to be Kevin Kolb as Drew Brees and Brees didn't exactly work out the way the Chargers anticipated although he made the cut and then became a real star. The unsettled situation at QB and the unsettled situation in the draft in 2013 at the position is one of the strongest arguments for getting fresh eyes in to look at the Jets talent posture after this season is over. This front office has drafted Brooks Bollinger, Kellen Clemens, Erik Ainge, Mark Sanchez and Greg McElroy at the game's most important position since taking power in 2001. Those are the only QB's they have drafted over that span. That list doesn't exactly inspire confidence that they'll somehow get it right finally with the next pick they make and the Jets fortunes over the next 5+ years are what hangs in the balance with that pick.
Yeah u can say what u want just like me. Dog fights is all about the money. I seen a few of them myself and made a few bucks.
Agreed, he isn't a Top 5 or 6 QB anymore, but he's still a hell of a lot better than what we have and a Top 10 QB. And come on, if it were Sanchez on Thursday night his apologists would have a parade for him.
And the haters would be saying how Sanchez had a terrible pass in the RZ for an INT, how the defense caused 4 turnovers, how it was only the Chiefs, how the drive for the TD to start the 4th only had one pass, how the defense then scooped and scored for 6, how the defense then picked sixed it. It goes both ways. And Bradwaysux is right, it's not a matter of liking Sanchez or not. It's realistically seeing he's unfortunately the best QB out there and you would run the the other 2 by placing them in this situation. That the future is unfortunately through Sanchez. So instead of saying trade him, cut him, etc, lets try to build the team around him and get a better team because the QB position isn't changing anytime soon. No matter, we are going to have a below average QB the next 2 years, time to live with that
its not possible to build a good enough team around sanchez in less then 3-4 years. at which point sanchez wouldnt even be the qb at that time in all likelyhood.
I hope that they can get a pash rusher early (Jarvis Jones) and then be able to draft someone in round 2 i.e. Andy Dalton. I would really enjoy a draft that unfolded that way. Drafting a pash rusher early in the draft could be a game changer for a defense coached by Rex Ryan. Haven't had one since he's been here and with the secondary the way it is, Jarvis Jones could have a field day.
