We all do, and I share the same feelings of sympathy and support as all the folks above. I think the most efficient way to help is to donate to the Red Cross.

3 days now no power. My office in Jersey City has been closed all week also. Since most people have no power in Staten Island, there are 3 gas stations open. There is about an 2 hour wait for gas.

Manhattan below 37th street is literally a wasteland. Delis are operating without power, bartering has begun, people have to go north to get actually currency from their bank accounts. Can you imagine if the whole Island was like that? It'd be anarchy in 3 days. The Con Ed bulding 4 blocks from me BLEW UP. Piercing blue light, buildings shook. This storm was no joke. My thoughts go out to those in Jersey who have lost everything.

Same in Jersey City, and in Keansburg people are apparently stealing generators. I'm sure people at times like this would share with their neighbors but my guess is they aren't being stolen for personal use... probably to be sold to some poor bastard who needs one.

I think what scares me more than anything else is that climatologists predicted these "superstorms". This just might be the harbinger of things to come in the near future. Winter might turn out to be a cast iron bitch. They're already forecasting a "real" winter this year. Nothing at all like last year.

It's only going to get worse as the Earth warms up even more. Basically the human race is on a frantic mission to burn every last drop of oil and nugget of coal on the entire planet.

totally agree. I think JayW also said that this would be a nasty winter for the north east.
