"You play to win the game" Herman Edwards First off I think it should be used in the Jets situation, we don't accept moral victories, we play to win. Herm Edwards rant turned around the 2002 season and the Jets made the playoffs after a QB change. It summarizes life in general too, you always try to win, weather it is in work or play, always give you best effort and don't accept failure. Also I used this quote in my ACT essay 4 years ago as an introductory quote and got 11 out of 12 on it, in the 99th percent tile. The question was, "Should there be emphasis on competition in schools?"
Herm needs to come to the Jets locker room right away. Do whatever it takes to WIN THE GAME. Make hard decisions, step on some toes, we need that.
A tremendous anniversary to commemorate our historically, underachieving football team. Congrats everybody!
what a contrast between herm's comment and the sanchise's loser statements after he under-performs over and over again. joe klecko is right- he sounds like a loser.
if i remember correctly this was right after herm did something so completely assinine and so completely conservative that it was painful. fuck herm. he sucks a fat cock
i liked herm. probably the worst x's and o's guy but he knew how to talk to people that said i am glad he is gone
I actually cut that clip when I worked for "Best Damn Sports Show". We tried and tried to get Herm on the show (along with Dungy) but he (they) kept refusing because the word "damn" was in the title. We also ran a segment called "Inside Herm's Head" where we'd clip sound bites from his pressers totally out of context. Pretty funny actually.
The quarterback change was made earlier in the month. Pennington had made three starts prior to that famous press conference.
He actually fits ESPN better, he is pretty funny. Also he does motivational speeches, which I think is a better line of work for him, and it comes with less stress.:breakdance:
Thank You. Vinny got hurt in Jax (I was at that shithole game) and Chad came in, and at least moved the ball (but not into the endzone). Beat the crappy Vikes, and put up points against KC, but lost. They were 2-5 and were going to SD whose was 6-1 (maybe 5-2, not sure) the week of Herm's rant...... and pulled off a big upset and kept rollin I thought herm was a shitty coach, but the rest of that season was one to remember until the end :shit:
that game was they day after my wedding. my wife bought us tickets as a gift. i remember by the half all the jet fans in my section were talking draft. it was week 5.unbelievable run herm got us on that year. i will always have soft spot for herm for that year
football game the day after your Wedding Day?!?! You found yourself a good woman!!!! My brother and Uncle flew down to go to the game with us...... we were going to have a good time regardless, luckily we had cool peeps in our section. the 2006 game on the other hand.............
When I think of herm, I think of Paul hackett, Ted cotrell, Adrian Jones, mathew hatchette, Doug brien, cover two, dwayne Robertson, consevative playcalling and lose poor clock management.
That 2002 season was so much fun the way it played out, maybe there is a lesson for this team? that team was 1-4 and 2-5, this team is ahea dof them at 3-5. LONG way to go.
