More Perfect? The "Perfect Storm" was more intense in it's core, but the worst of it never came ashore and this one is much much larger. The "Perfect Storm" was also primarily a wind event while the tidal surge will be the worst this time. Different form of ugly, but it sounds like a lot more damage this time.
A tree fell down right next to my neighbors house. A few trees down in my neighborhood but I was fortunate here. I am concerned about you folks in NYC, LI, Staten Island and New Jersey.
Lucked up here in Pa. No trees down, power stayed on, no snow. Pretty windy though still and some drizzle right now. They're calling for rain today and tomorrow. All you Jersey/CT/LI guys, My prayers are with you. Good luck!
A complete disaster zone by me. Ton of flooding, a lot of fires. My parents house had a mix of 4' of water and oil in it! Not a good day.
I took a ride down my street and cars are blown all the place, lawns sidewalks. Crazy Traffic lights blinking and the stores were all closed. (in Brooklyn)
I am nowhere near NYC but I went out to hear to work this morning and saw my neighbour's boulevard tree had snapped, both my garage doors were open, and my recycling bins are MIA.
Dam broke in Little Ferry and Moonachie, they are under 5 feet if water. Roof was ripped off a storage facility down the street Girl I went to HS with, huge tree went through her deck and house. Guys we are fucked.
Cannot believe some of the surrounding areas by me and how badly they were affected. I'm extremely fortunate to have had nothing happened by me. Just big branches in the middle of the street and a huge piles of leaves by my doorstep and backyard. Hope everyone collects themselves and gets through this!
In Southern Nassau, there was water up the garage door and up to the second step in my house. My sister had to move her car onto the lawn in order to prevent it from flooding. We also lost about two trees. It all receded last night and there has been nothing this morning.
