I have a cousin that rode out Katrina down in Biloxi Ms. Fortunately, she lived thru that and now lives in Tenn. People tend to wise up after "riding out" one of these things.

    I miss Hurricane parties.

GTFO if youre within a few blocks of the water though. It's just a one, but yall dont have what you need to laugh at it like people down south would, apparently. On the flip side we've never had a blizzard follow one in. So good luck.

Someone posted that 880 wcbs radio that landfall is happening right now. Expect the storm to begin to slow its progress.

Also..the wrap around affect for NYC is about to happen...NYC is about to enter the worst part of the storm for them. That means North Jersey too..the next 4-6 hours will be heavy rain and wind. Winds aloft are always much stronger than surface winds..and what downpours of rain do is force the winds down to the surface..something a lot of those north of the storm have not experienced yet because we have not had much rain.

That will change now..the heavy rain for NYC and points west to NNJ and southern NY is coming in the ext 15-25 minutes..and BROOK...that would mean a bit longer for you..perhaps 45 to an hour before you experience the worst part of the storm.

Wow...I just saw that two power lines collided in Brick, NJ causing an explosion. If your in the area it's at Drum Point Road and Brick Blvd.

Winds have hit 88 miles in Tuckerton which is very close to LBI

Landfall was at Sea Isle City, just outside of Atlantic City

By "saw" you mean read it somewhere? Link?

I live off of Drum Point Road probably 5 miles from where that explosion occurred, but as I stated upthread I am staying in Toms River tonight.

That was my guess... if you're heading south on Brick Blvd when you hit Drum Point they'd be on the right hand side.

DAMN. Good Luck and be safe everyone. Not an intense Hurricane, but devastating due to it's overall mass, and that is often worse, particularly on the coast due to surf / surge. Hopefully everyone in a potentially dangerous area planned accordingly.

I work for the county beaches here, and we removed everything, but only had tropical storm force winds for Fri-Sat.... then the wind switched as it passed & It gave us GREAT surf here yesterday.

Yours truly @ St. Augustine Pier (check out my JETS trunks) walked to the bar across the street to take a break and watch the game..... and said F-this (I did need a break from paddling and beatdowns though)

Jay, serious question man. I keep hearing this storm is the strongest we've recorded blah b;lah because of the low pressure of 900s MBs and all this. Apparently there is no relation to that and wind strength since its only like 90 MPH in the worst part?So whats the strenght exactly that we're talking about?

I think its just the lowest pressure. definetly largest wind field, but i remember Bob and Gloria,i think they were "stronger" storms.

holy fuck we are getting hammered in Bergen.

haven't had power in 3 hours. transformers are exploding everywhere.

gusts have to be 100 mph. I literally could not push my front door open.
