^^^ AMJets that pic is a fake. http://www.theatlantic.com/technolo...-the-real-sandy-photos-from-the-fakes/264243/ I remember the statue of liberty fake from last year.
Holee crap, somebody get Al Roker the fuck off of that beach, he's going to die. Seriously, one wave came all the way up to his waist, why the hell would you do that?
bunch of reporters risking their lives today. I can imagine this: "There were no fatalities from the storm except for a few reporters who insisting on standing right on the edge of the overflowing waters..." or a scenario where one of these reporters gets blown out to sea and they see him bobbing up and down screaming for help while the video guy keeps filming, thinking it's a career-maker. Also, NBC was showing video of some attention whore who rode a jet ski in the harbor
About 1 hour before landfall and there is a bit of a saving grace in that this storm sped up over the past 6 hours..and high tide is after 8pm..so the tide is rising..but not high tide. With that said..man..my heart goes out to those along the Jersey coast right now..they have about 2 or 3 more hours of total devastation left. Hopefully they come through it. The storm is about to officially lose the Sandy title. As it comes ashore, it will as a true noreaster..meaning the wind field will begin to expand powerfully from the center North..West..and South...so even though landfall is coming..nobody is out of the woods. Those that have lucked out with little rain and just heavy winds..that will begin to change and the heaviest rains for those north of the storm will begin in the next couple hours and last until midnight at least. What also does is brings the winds aloft down..so even more powerful winds begin to take place on Southern NY State...NNJ..Central NJ...Eastern PA... and of course L.I and NYC. To top it all off..an all out blizzard is beginning in parts of W.V and western VA.
If you have time, what does it look like for Boston? We have had heavy winds but no torrential downpours just yet. Stayed inside since the morning though and many places closed by 2-3 pm this afternoon
Oh..barry..I hope I answered your question before. A.C. or around was where I thought landfall would take place..regardless...Point Pleasant was always on the north side of the eye..the worst place to be during landfall. I can only imagine P.P. will be a very very hard hit area..as will Asbury Park...Seaside Heights..Bradley Beach...Sandy Hook..LBI. In order....south to north...I guess it would be..LBI, Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant, Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Sandy Hook.
Boston is actually going through the worst part also over the next 7 hours..here is the actual weather forecast for Boston from the NWS. Late Afternoon Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog. High near 61. Very windy, with a east wind around 43 mph, with gusts as high as 65 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tonight Showers. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog before 3am, then Patchy fog after 5am. Low around 58. Windy, with a southeast wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tuesday Showers. Patchy fog between 8am and 9am. High near 69. Breezy, with a southeast wind 17 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Thanks for that. That's what I figure from looking, but wasn't sure if that was updated. I just didn't know if we got slightly lucky or what was going on haha. I figure we are just sitting and waiting
For those in nyc..LI...Jersey central and north..lower ny state...here is a great radar..updates itself. If you look over stamford, you see bright yellow wrapping around..that is the intense part of the storm that will soak many areas that have not had much rain. I would save this radar and keep checking it. Areas on the outside of the radar look like nothing is happening but it is..it just keys on the center. http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...7&lightning=0&smooth0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0
Jay What can we expect for Morris county for the next 12 hours please? Heavy rain and strong winds. What kind of wind speed are we talking about?
 I didn't see that. Here's a pic of some shirtless guys who made it on the news. https://twitter.com/jose3030/status/263023508811030528/photo/1/large
