I agree. I haven't seen our line create holes like that all year. BUT I also haven't seen Greene make a spin move like that... probably ever. Maybe they did actually take off the training wheels. NFLN usually ranks the best olines of the week, I didn't get to catch it this week. I bet we we're at the top again. We were #1 against the Bills in week 1 as well. Part of me thinks that Greene has been taught over the years to run with his head down and smash into players. Part of the G&P strategy is to wear the Dline down by pounding it at them like with did with TJ in 2009. He wasn't a dynamic runner, by any means, but he wore the defense down and busted huge runs late in the game as a result. I think the Jets are finally trying to use him more as a dynamic guy, rather than a strictly pound up the middle and wear down the D guy. I hope this makes sense and of course I hope this is true. That was probably the best game I've ever seen him play. Lets hope he keeps playing on that level. Obviously it won't be THAT good every week, but I want to see him make similar moves.
Unfortunately, OL don't get any attention unless they get beat so badly the play is dead (as evidenced by how many posts were on WFH). This is why I get kinda annoyed when these awards ALWAYS go to the "skill positions".
There actually is one. Madden does it. It's more a marketing gimmick for prilosec than anything else, but it's on the nfl.com page. Giants won it last week. http://www.giants.com/news-and-blog...ive-line/d9d4e99b-18b6-4d26-be28-5f9ad01ad9db
Good for him. Hope he keeps going and makes us all eat our words for proclaiming him dirt, myself included.
Yeah, The O-Line finally showed up but the ShonnMower was breaking tackles and pushing the pile. Man, it's like some of you want guys to fail just so you can be right...
I don't want them to fail, but seeing that running game against a torrid Colts run defense the week before we face the Pasts' new and improved run D is an epic disappointment in the making. Maybe Greene finally gets it in terms our field vision and instincts, but I think that is too much to hope for. Hell, the Colts' D was so bad that Sparano put Vlad on the field.
lol..U know he's been playing is spots all year... But can't we just give credit, it's not like he just broke 100yds ..dude was actually breaking tackles, falling forward... Shit, he even juked and spun for one of his 3 TDs...
Colts aside, I thought Greene looked great. He made decisions in the backfield and didn't just run head-down into the area where his hole was supposed to be. He used the spin move twice by my recollection, and it worked both times. And he didn't get hurt. I only saw him get up almost-limping once during that game, and it didn't look bad. He normally gets up limping 5 or 6 times a game. So, there's that. There was one play where he got good yardage and the zoned in to the safety downfield and tried to make a hit on him instead of trying to elude contact for more yardage. That was my only real bitch about the way Greene played against Indy. Otherwise, he looked stellar. But it's hard not to take the other team into account for me.
I actually like the fact that we go right back to playing two very tough run defenses in the next two weeks. Right away we get to see if the line andd Greene have turned the corner in the new system or this was all a result of the Colts horrible front 7.
Part of me agrees, and the other part of me just wants the rest of the season to be shitty teams. I hate being brought back to earth.
