Cant even say how thrilled I am with the job our coaching staff did on sunday. Specifically on the offensive side of the ball. for get the yards or points, just from a scheme standpoint it was great to see. not even really pertaining to the score or stats, but just that the coaches finally made some adjustments to take advantage of the things our players do well. Tebow: We finally see him in short yardage, and we see him in the spread out of the shutgun with no one in the backfield. its something fans have begged for. the wildcat, we saw only once - which is good, because it doesnt suit his strengths. Tebow on short yardage with just 5 or 6 defenders in the box is nearly automatic. Also, they let him throw. we dont need 5+ attempts from tebow a game, but 1 or 2 will certainly make life in the tebow package easier for everyone once they have to respect that dynamic Sanchez: they are playing more to his strengths, and moreso, no longer playing to his weaknesses. the short precision throws, which he has struggled with his hole career, have been dwindled down a ton. we are see a ton more long and intermediate routes. gone is the fake to the hb throw to the hb for 1 yard play. the downfield passes also help slow down the rush a bit, as defense cant T off. i think it also has impacted the run game the run game!: i refuse to overreact to 1 big game vs the colts. however its nice to see we are running more plays then just the dive. offtackles, tosses, using cromartie to ghost the defensive end. nice wrinkles.
Calm down, it was the Colts..if they have that kind of success against the Patriots it will mean something.
I'd say this is the second game in a row where the coaching staff came into the game with a winning game plan. The only difference between last week and this week is that the players executed the plan very well this week.
Had to be a good, 'nose bleed wednesday'. Im counting on a, 'put your head through a concrete wall, kill everyone in front of you Wednesday' going into a Big, fun game where we can completely dismantle new england supremacy. :gpc:
Have to agree, one of the few times in the Ryan era when the team has come out looking ready to play. The Colts tried the same mis direction crap the Texans used effectively last week, but the d seemed ready for it and stopped it easily. Refreshing.
do you have reading comprehension issues? i made it very clear what i liked about the coaching was what they changed and what they scraped that wasnt working. nothing to do with the score of the game or the stats. the changes they made are things i and many others have begged for all season
now all the freaking naysayers are saying "oh its just the colts" while last week, oh we are playing the COLTS...they beat the packers, OMG...we are gonna lose, our balls are gonna be handed to us blah blah blah...shut your pie holes! Excellent job by all the coaches/players. Everything was well executed, no turnovers, never took the foot of the pedal...great job!
definitely have to agree with you. the score and stats were great dont get me wrong, its always nice to be able to watch your favorite team lay the smack down. the colts arent THAt bad, so obviously there is some promise coming from this game. the staff did a nice job with getting guys the opportunities to be successful. nothing overly complex, just the right calls at the right times. something ive been dying for on this team for at least 6 years now. mark made the throws when he needed (mostly, still a great game from him), and the team was able to move the ball on the ground effectively. on defense we made adjustments that seemed to work very well. yeh andrew luck is a rookie but hes a pretty damned good one, and nowadays rookie qbs are entering the league nfl-ready. no tds is a great stat and they should be proud. cro played a hell of a game despite the penalties. i can think of two that were completely the wrong call though so i dont care about those. refs need to make the right call cro shouldnt change a thing. secondary looked good out there. lankster got himself a pick, which will be good for his confidence moving forward. overall i was a good game, you cant dismiss a beating like that just cause it was the colts. they were coming off of a big win against the packers and have looked pretty good so far. the colts certainly are a team the jets should have beat, but i dont think anybody expected that.
Love the positive attitude! Last week it was "lost to SF & HOU, must fire everyone, shoot for the 1st draft pick and start over." Now it is "Colts mean nothing, beat Pats, then we'll talk" I imagine the path forward is this: If Jets beat Pats, it'll be "One game against Pats means nothing, win the division". If Jets loose, it's "See, they still suck".
I think the bigger point is, they learned from their past mistakes and made changes, no matter who the opponent is.
I hate all this "It was the Colts" nonsense. You mean the same Colts who beat the Packers last week? The same packers who waxed the Texans last night on the road? This is the motherfucking NFL. Anytime you beat a team by 26 points, it's a great victory.
Right. The Colts victory against the Packers last week means nothing. The are TERRIBLE because we won!
The team still makes some dumb ass plays, like late hits on the QB, etc. Also, this is a small detail, but with about maybe 7 minutes left, and the Jets punting, they kicked with about 12 seconds left on the 40 second clock. It is a small detail, but stupid nonetheless. They did play well yesterday, but they are still a dumb team IMO.
Hats off to the coaches, Sparano specifically. Like I said in another thread, if Shotty was still the OC, we'd have come out five wide, empty backfield, and thrown the ball 60 times, against the worst run D in the league.
It was a successful win in that we attacked the other team's weakness and we stuck to that. So in terms of coaching that is refreshing, in the past I wouldn't put it past this team to abandon the run in a game where we were running successfully. What I don't agree with is the idea where people are saying we have found the winning blueprint for this team. If we form a game plan against the Patriots around the idea that were gonna ground and pound for 5 yds a carry, were gonna be in for a rude awakening.
