Somewhat off-topic, but not really: Does this year mark the first season of Brady's decline? It seems that he's really lose the 'magic' touch of driving down the field and making things happen. In years past, you know Brady would have at the very least gotten NE into FG range in a game like yesterday's.
People have been saying that since they lost to the ravens in the playoffs. With our luck they will win out and go 13-3
if we try and pound it with the run and control clock we will be down 14-0 in the blink of an eye. they made some improvements up front but still have the leagues worst secondary. we need to attack them downfield, hopefully get a lead, and pin our ears back to get to brady anything short of that and we wont win
There are a lot of reasons that the Pats should be favored. It's unusal for both Brady and Belichick to stink it up two games in row, Brady should be pretty focused. I think the team in general is pretty pissed at themselves. Seattle's IS better then the Jet's D. The running game should be better against the Jets. The passing game should be better against the Jets. The Patriots D is decent against the run. The Pats no-huddle could look better on Sunday. That said there are reasons that the Jets can win next Sunday. It's a BIG game for both Rex and the Jets, even if they don't end up in the playoffs, beating the Patriots will be a plus for the season no matter what. The Pats can't close games. The receivers are all nicked up, Gronkowski and Welker took a beating yesterday, Hernandez is still coming back The Oline can be great one week, inconsistant the next. They can be vulnerable to blitzes. The RB Bolden is hurt The safeties are all hurt, there are only rookies at the position right now The secondary still sucks, sucks, sucks. EVERY QB that faces the Patriots looks like Joe Montana. Sanchez should have a good game. In fact this is a test for Sanchez. If he can't look good then the Jets should jetison him after this season. SERIOUSLY. Running is fine but if Sanchez can heave up some semi-accurate long throws, he'll either get a big reception or a PI. SERIOUSLY. Yeah they need to pressure Brady but if they can get some coverage sacks, that will work too. They need to make a big play or two when the Pats go no-huddle to distrupt it or the Pats will prevail. I think the Pats should win given everything but the Jets, positively, absolutely have a chance if they can keep the game close in the 4th quarter.
This exactly. I want to see formations of Cromartie and Stephen Hill, send them deep and chuck it. We might still end up getting embarrassed trying this because I don't know if we can execute it, but at least we tried.

Those two times we played them last year didn't matter? In aseason where the Jets went 8-8 and a 9-7 team ended up winning the Super Bowl?
The Pats are 28th in the league defending the pass and 6th in defending the run. Part of that is probably that they've won a couple of blowouts, but it looks like we're going to need to rely more on the passing game this week. Hopefully Hill and Keller are about 100%.
I have a funny feeling the Jets have been saving a lot of the wildcat wackiness for this Pats game. Sparano and the Dolphins saved it for NE when they launched the wildcat 5 or so years ago. At least we'll know this: if Tebow and the wildcat isn't more involved in NE, we've probably seen the extent of its depth. But yeah, now would be the perfect time to unveil a new wrinkle to the offense and catch the Pats off-guard.
Keep Brady off the field with sustained drives. When he is on the field get pressure up the middle and make him extremely uncomfortable. Stop the run game, make them one dimensional. Nothing more lethal than Brady when he's got the benefit of play action. Own 3rd down on defense. Most important. If we let them convert, they will run the damn no huddle and tire out the defense leading to a 2nd half blowout. MUST be better on 3rd passing downs.
Beat up the QB, when we aren't beating him up play 6 yo 8 guys in the Defensive backfield. Control the clock, control field position with our kicking game both return and cover, make every FG attempt. Score TD's in the red zone. It's pretty obvious what we have to do to win, the same thing we did when we beat them previously. I'm a little concerned that we are going to go after Brady more then usual instead of covering with extra guys. Rex is going to be very tempted to bring the house this year, a mistake against Brady. Bring 4 and cover.
Landry needs to spear Gronk Like Goldberg did to his opponents. Once Gronk is out of the way,ESmith will "decal"-pitate Welker.
You beat them the same way the Giants beat them. You need your D-lineman to play out of their minds and you need a great running attack that eats up clock and keeps Brady off the field. I think the Jets can do this, and now with Hill and Kerley coming on in the passing game the Jets should be able to mix things up enough to keep the Pats D honest. Real hard to win up at Gillette, especially after the Pats coming off another heartbreaking loss, but if the Jets can pull it off it may just demoralize the Pats players enough to seriously alter the rest of their season. I don't know when the last time the Pats were 3-4, and if they fall to the Jets their locker room will start to come unglued up there. Jets can accomplish a lot by winning this game, a whole lot.
The Pats have a pretty easy schedule after this, excluding the Jets twice and Houston and San Fran in weeks 13 and 14. We'll be playing them again on November 22nd so we need to take at least one of these games, why not this one? Jets should really take it to the Pats next week, because losing to the Jets at Gillette and falling to 3-4 would really demoralize them and set them up for another possible loss four weeks later when they play the Jets at Metlife. The Jets can get the Pats down here and send them reeling. This is another game the Jets need to have. If we can hit the break at 5-3 we're talking not only possible playoff birth but possible division victory also.
This has been a good thread. General Agreement: 1. Sustained drives, 3rd down conversion, ball control. Whatever you want to call it, the point is to keep Brady off the field and the Jets D rested. How do you accomplish that? Disagreement: 1. Pass or run. Some have said we really need to establish the run and take shots downfield, others disagree and say the pass against the weak Pat secondary is the key. 2. Defending Brady, some have advocated strong interior pressure, others say he will burn us if we try it. My opinion on the last one is that letting him off easy in the pocket is a recipe for disaster. Very few teams can match up without pressuring Brady. Stopping the offense means stopping Brady..you have to get to him. Tha Pats are struggling, but I don't share the views that the Pats are declining and beleive they are still the best in the AFC. As Hernandez and Gronk get back to their game, their offense will come together. The Seahawks are a team on fire right now, playing with a lot of emotion and intensity (we'll see if that lasts), but the Pats are the better team.
